8GB RAM soldered kills the deal. Unless you are using it only for basic tasks this computer's performance will only decline as programs, OS updates start demaning even more ram.

And the Intel Iris XE graphics is limited with 8GB ram. Installing 16GB (2X8GB ) dual channel ram increases perfomance in games massively.

Core i3 does not come Iris Xe, it comes with Xe based UHD Graphics with 64 EU, compared to 80 for i5 and 96 for i7. And this Ram is also configured in dual channel.

I'm typing this message on this exact laptop at the moment. I have an additional 15.6 inch external monitor connected via the thunderbolt cable. Within that screen I'm running Edgeprox software (motivewave Java based stock trading software and a slimmed down analysis setup but still a full volume profile with tick data), 7 edge tabs, 1 of which is a live stream on Youtube. I cannot believe that this thing runs it without any major issues....I have over laptops and pc's that run the same during the day and I thought I7's with 32+GB ram was the bare minimum. This little thing is worth every penny. I'm at 84% CPU and 91% memory...but not a stutter.

I am typing from the same model, which I paid $200 for refurbished last year. Here's my take:

1. I don't game/video edit so i3-1215u + 8GB ram is sufficient.
2. I read that this model has hinge design flaw so I try avoiding open/close lid.
3. the size is perfect but it's 0.5 lb heavier than my liking.

I consider it's the best $200 laptop purchase I made.
