I'm typing this message on this exact laptop at the moment. I have an additional 15.6 inch external monitor connected via the thunderbolt cable. Within that screen I'm running Edgeprox software (motivewave Java based stock trading software and a slimmed down analysis setup but still a full volume profile with tick data), 7 edge tabs, 1 of which is a live stream on Youtube. I cannot believe that this thing runs it without any major issues....I have over laptops and pc's that run the same during the day and I thought I7's with 32+GB ram was the bare minimum. This little thing is worth every penny. I'm at 84% CPU and 91% memory...but not a stutter.
About 6 months ago I bought the same model with 1315u for 199.00 refurbished. It came from lenovo and was brand new. My daughter uses it for college and has no issue with the processor or 8gb ram.

This laptop is 3 years old already

250 nits max brightness, that's horrible
Firstly, Core i3-1215U was officially launched in Q1'2022 and this laptop was announced by Lenovo in Mar 2022. So, 2 years at max.
Secondly, this has a 300nits IPS panel.

This is a great laptop for basic usage such as web browsing and watching YouTube videos. I was using Adobe acrobat to edit some pdf documents, and the laptop froze in the middle.

with Thunderbolt Power Delivery, can I charge this laptop, even though there is a separate power port?

YES, 100% as long as the USB-C port is functioning properly. That's what I am doing with it now.

Non-expendable memory. Fully soldered.

It's non-expandable memory. At $300, the memory and the laptop may be considered expendable lol.

Can anyone who is more intelligent than me tell me if this is better than this one at best buy it goes on sale regularly for around 300
ASUS 14" 2-in-1 Chromebook Plus Laptop - AMD Ryzen 3 7320C - 8GB Memory - 128GB SSD - Ponder Blue

It very much depends on your use cases. But in general, this Core i3-1215U windows laptop is better.
  • Chrome OS is a different environment, which is more cloud-based and reliant on internet connection. Some users are not get used to that and the user interface, and simetimes might find it limiting in some use cases and support (vs traditional windows environment) such as software application and connection to peripheral devices.
(This was one of the reasons why I switched from a cheap Ideapad 3 touchscreen CB to this as daily personal device (for daily office tasks, zoom, web-browsing, Roblox, streaming) last year.)
  • This Lenovo 2-in-1 is not thin and light at 3.42lbs. But the ASUS is even heavier at 4.08lbs, which is too heavy for a 14".
  • Intel Core i3-1215U is a very capable 12th Gen CPU offering more horsepower than that of AMD R3-7320C (7320C is a chromebook variant of lower-powered 7320U from AMD)
  • 8GB RAM in Windows may be limiting, but for tasks you would be doing a R3-7320C/8GB Chromebook, there should NOT be a critical problem in a Windows laptop.
  • This has a larger 256GB SSD
  • Chromebook generally offers longer battery life than Windows laptop
  • The ASUS CB has backlit keyboard

There is no such Auto-Update Expiration (AUE) in Windows PC.

Both are good enough for homeschool. (again, I would take this Lenovo)

However, for kids like 1st grader or 3rd grader, just a friendly reminder to think again if you really need a 2-in-1 flex/flip design, which usually has higer chance of problem/weakness with the hinges. It might be an issue for uses by young kids.
There are some traditional design laptops with touchscreen, which may provide better durabilty and longivity.

No good.
1. 3rd party seller
2. 220nits TN panel

There are better alternatives at similar price if u don't like the non-upgradable memory of this Lenovo Flex
