"In August 2021 Peet's began using the water process to decaffeinate all of our bagged coffee and K-cups in response to customer requests. This is commonly referred to as the "Swiss water process" which is only 1 of the water process companies that we work with. With the water process, coffee beans are soaked in water to remove the caffeine. The beans are then removed from the bath, dried, and ready for roasting, leaving minimal caffeine on the bean."
I don't know why that previous user quoted the older answer.

`Thank you for your question. We utilize two processes for decaffeination: the direct contact method and the water process method. Our Decaf House Blend, Decaf French Roast, Decaf Sumatra and Decaf Major Dickason's Blend are processed via the direct contact method. The direct contact method uses methylene chloride, the most selective decaffeinating solvent known, which we believe allows for the fullest flavored, best tasting decaf possible. The beans are steamed, and then the solvent is used to draw out the caffeine, but not the flavor. The beans are then washed, dried and ready for roasting.`

I've been drinking decaf for a while, but just learning about how unhealthy the process is. I think only organic swiss water processed is the way to go

Looks like that was an old answer. It's since been updated to:
