Why would someone catch you and check what materialyour bike is made of?

It's got decent enough parts and geometry to be a great legit entry level bike.

Why is the frame tube protrusion where the seatpost goes in so low?

So you can drop the seat lower.

Nice bike for the money. Good specs for about $1000. If I needed a new HT, I would most definitely consider this.

It is a good price as I got my RM Grower 40 for in October 2023 for $1330 and thought that was a good deal. While I am sure the RockShox Revelation RC DebonAir fork on the Honzo is much better, It has similar entry level build. I have ridden over 500mi in the woods on it, over 300mi just this year. Best investment ever for me. All I want to do is ride now.
While the Deore has been flawless, I am shopping for a new wheelset as the low end hubs with loose balls already need rebuild. But I may just rebuild them and continue to abuse them until they completely fail. I haven't even upgraded the resin brake pads/cheap rotors.

For most riders, the Honzo will be more bike than they need. I ride with two people that own Honzo's (DL and ESD) and they love them. Almost want to buy just cause it is such a good deal.

Edit,
Was thinking about buying one as at this price would be a cheap way to have a spare bike. And while the geometry is very similar to my RM Growler, the Head Tube Angle (HTA) is 66 vs 64 on Growler, which is plenty slack, but being a HT, the HTA becomes steeper the more the fork compresses. Just picked up a RM Blizzard and the HTA is 66 and RM Element is 65. Per Kona, "The Honzo is the solution for the rider wanting something a bit more aggressive than a traditional cross-country hardtail" and HTA of 66 fits that.

I now see the Honzo ESD has 63" HTA...now that is slack. I still think this (DL version) is a great bike at this price and want to buy one as spare.

If I did not already have a HT I would buy one in a heartbeat. DO IT! And ride it every day!

This bike has a dropper post which is a level-actuated device that allows the post to sink down much like pressing the button on the side of an office chair. The benefit of this is being able to get it out of the way on descents so you can more easily move your weight back which is an absolute game changer on steep technical terrain. Droppers are arguably the most significant piece of gear that's happened to mountain biking in the last 20 years. I could give up a 1x drive train. I could give up a damped airfork, and even hydraulic disc brakes, but I'd never give up my dropper.

Yeah this is quite a bit beyond entry level. Just the fork is $420 alone, all the components on this build are solid. Few years ago I paid $800 for a used hard tail with rockshock pike fork, similar (older ofc) brakes and groupset, Zealous division mkii frame. Just a solid bike, and I thought I got a deal. This is completely capable of hitting almost any trail that you'll throw at it and a fantastic buy.

You raise the seat when travelling up the mountain and lower it out of the way when you go down.
