you are partially correct. It depends on whether or not you need VPN and the login protocol of the cruise line internet. The one I posted works with all protocols including EAP. Even the more expensive ones sometimes dont have EAP. I had the slate model but upgraded first to the Beryl AX model, since on paper that seemed better. But actually using it tells you what the issues were. The Beryl AX didnt have EAP, only worked with an older version of software (with bugs) and it ran hot. Had issues connecting to my VPN and couldnt get VPN to work reliably. So even though it was newer and more expensive and better on paper, it had fewer capabilities, I finally ended up with hte version I posted, had EAP, ran on a more updated firmware, was power efficient and never got hot and was fast enough. It paid for itself many times over on the cruise. (Saved me 2 people x $15/day x 16 days) = $480.) It was worth it spending $90 for certainty vs $20 uncertainty prior to the trip. Yes it was 4x the cost of the $20 model, but if it didnt work, it would have cost me a lot more than the additional money

BTW, I see posts all the time of people that claim model X is better based on specs, but actually never tried it. Wish they would put disclaimers and not be so certain of their claims. (Not talking about your post). Most important for a travel router to me is useability.
These are older obsolete versions. For me, they arent worth the bother despite the low cost. IF you want a travel router, I highly recommend this one:
https://www.amazon.com/GL-iNet-GL...R2PX&psc=1

I used it on a recent cruise with it plugged into an Anker phone battery and it worked as a hotspot all over the ship for my family. Worked perfectly. Also used it in VPN mode to connect back to my home network and while slow, worked OK. (It was slow because the ship internet speed was slow. )
One thing I learned from this post is that there are a lot of slickdealsers that go on cruises.

I'm trying to setup my mt3000 to connect to Xfinitywifi, but after setting repeater and connecting to the network, I'm having trouble getting it on the Internet as it requires login (page won't load for me) Those who got it to work, what am I missing?

Login with phone, clone phone's MAC address to the mt3000.

I was on princess cruises and was able to connect my laptop to the main wifi and just share the signal with my laptop. I didn't use this router or any other fancy devices.
that's great that you carry your laptop where ever you go on the ship.
dinner, theater, casino, etc

Can any of these be used as Tailscale exit node?
its takes some moderate to complx config. You wont be able to serve as exit node using standard gui. You'll need to ssh into it and modify some config files.

i just use it for xfinitywifi hotspot for secondary network it gives you totally different IP and unlimited data also can connect unlimited devices without having to assign them to actual hotspot.
Some captive portal are on the local-only address, and Openwrt has rebind protection on by default, so it'll discard those address. Disable it, and you 'should' be able to access the captive portal so you don't need to MAC clone.

From the LuCI interface (https://docs.gl-inet.com/router/e...t_is_luci/)

Once logged into LuCI UI:
Network->DHCP & DNS->General Setting->Rebind protection. Uncheck that

Great Deal!

Looking to get Flint 2 . no better deal than the $159 I guess.. ?? Likely to be lot better supported for OpenWRT and looks super beefy.

As of 7:30 am eastern beryl is back in stock for $19.90. I just ordered. Plan to return the opal I got.
Just curious as to how are you able to track the stock status.
What tool are you using to get a stock update notification?

A few pros off the top of my head
* Only need to log in with the router, and can save the router information on your devices so they'll always auto-connect
* Provide a more secure network for your devices as you only have the router interfacing with a 'fairly public' network
* Ease in using VPNs or other networks like that, automatically when connecting through a router like this, increasing your security
You can also "clone" your home wifi SSID (using identical SSID and shared-secret). this way all of your home devices will auto-connect when you get to the hotel without having to separately connect to the hotel wifi portal.

They are helpful at home to route a TV or ipad through the VPN to watch content in another locale.

They can install openWRT apps like adguard Home so you can filter porn & ads for your kids.

It's a tiny embedded linux router in your pocket with dozens of different tools to use

I've used this website successfully in the past to check for when products come back in stock - https://visualping.io/.

You can tell which what words to check for like "out of stock", "product unavailable", etc. and if those words aren't there, you get an alert to your email. Other options are choose a visual area or an element on the page for it to monitor changes for.

Grabbed a "Creta" for an upcoming trip. I just wanted the DLNA server for the TF card so I can have some video file storage for a chromecast. Not bad for $16. I read elsewhere that 128GB is not an actual limit and 1TB cards work on this device. I don't care about slow ethernet or encryption in this case.

Been using the Ar300M, the mango, and the 750S for years. The brume 2 works flawlessly as a wireguard server. The mini routers are very cool for plug and play where it is easier to deploy one of these things than re-configure stuff.

oh and the 750 creta Support Ends: Until March 27th, 2025

Has anyone successfully used one of these of run wifi cameras in a hotel room? I bought a slate and have a couple of Wyze cams but couldn't get them to work. After half a dozen trips and hours spent going back and forth with GLI and Wyze I gave up. I try not to leave valuables in the room, but there are times when I can't lug my laptop and tablet around with me.

Ya. It should. Name it the same network SSID as your Wyze cam and it will pick it up.
