it also requires pcie bifurcation on motherboard, so I don't see any reason to buy that over asus: https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-M-2-S...B0CKH9FWRQ

gen 5 support isn't too useful, so you can go for the gen3/4 models:

Very few mobos support bifurcation for 4-drives. Most support 2, if at all.

The ones that DO support 4 drives will likely require use of the primary PCIE that typically holds your GPU.
Yes. As a user of one of the Asus cards, they definitely do.

In fact, all of these cards do bc bifurcation is how these drives can be individually addressed.

I don't know why there wasn't a more blanket statement around "all cards like this require bifurcation."

100%. Also note that the SABRENT doesn't support the 22110 form factor. If you want power-loss protection, pretty much all M.2 drives that support it are going to be 22110.

i think i still have small fans from old pcs. Wonder if my open case will make any difference with fans. Small fans are noisy. My pc is silent even with psu, cpu, 3 graphics card fans.

You're wrong. The HighPoint SSD7540 8x M.2 NVMe SSD Card doesn't require bifurcation. It can hold 8 nvme ssds and costs $1,000.

You're wrong. Plenty of server motherboards support PCIE bifurcation and can support this card in any slot. Something like the Asrock ROMED8-2T has 7 slots and can support this in any slot with bifurcation.

While I appreciate the information, I believe that the statement was general, and the $1,000 price point would bring the Highpoint card out of the "like this" general area. Still, good information.

Well people will just look at the card and assume they are all "like this." I included the price so people realize these sub $100 cards are that price for a reason.

I also don't think this is a deal unless you need a smaller card. You can get an Asus Gen 5 card for less... It's just really long.

The Asus Gen 5 also may require an extra power connection.
