they're pretty nice. I got a bunch used off facebook marketplace and outfitted my downstairs with all hue bulbs.
Can set them to be scheduled to follow daylight- bright white during day, mellows to yellow in afternoon and dim nightlight during night. Makes for a nice ambiance.
Can also do festive displays and have really colorful room, but I don't use that as often, sometimes turn it blue when watching movie.
If you compare it to traditional bulbs, yeah it's expensive, but if you compare to any kind of home renovation/upgrades this one is both extremely easy and very good bang for buck.

Try out the hue sync function if you haven't, you no longer need the sync box for it to sync the lights to your screen or music beats and mood. Can be free on PC and phone.
For tv, you can either connect your laptop and use the windows app, or on most Samsung year 2022+ tv models there's apparently an app built in (Think it maybe costs $$$), workarounds for other things too, can remote view a second account on PlayStation for instance.
It is very cool, but be prepared to see how awesome it is, and then want the special gradient Lightstrip for the back of tv itself to make it even better, can be had for $150-300 depending.
For music, Spotify seems to work best, especially if you want to use it with alexa and her multi-room music.
You can also just use smartthings to link it to whatever is playing on a single device depending.

Good to know, thanks! I've definitely wanted a sync box for a while but didn't want to spend the money, so will look into the free option. I unfortunately have a 2021 Samsung, I think I literally missed the app by a year. I did stumble on that but it's not available on my tv unfortunately (and like you said it's a pretty expensive app anyways).

It's great! hopefully they'll integrate with more in the future. Curious why they haven't linked up with Amazon to make it work with fire sticks directly, maybe they don't have enough hardware in them, or more likley a competition issue.
Maybe a selling feature of the next gen hopefully lol! It would be awesome with what I've seen of the newest fire stick's ambiance and ai generated backgrounds to your whim.
