Wife and I are losing access to our unlimited Google drive storage later this spring and have been looking for cloud storage to backup our data. pCloud gets some mixed reviews amongst datahoarders, some people have had their lifetime accounts disabled when they store copyrighted material on their drives, while others have had their accounts for years with zero issues. There are also slow upload speeds when using the backup feature on computer client, around 2-5MB/s, while uploading through their web client I was seeing 30-50MB/s speeds. Also some speculation on their lifetime model being sustainable, but they also do offer monthly or yearly plans. It's lifetime of the company kind of plan, not the lifetime of the customer.
With that out of the way, their 10TB plan is on sale for $890. The real list price is around $1300. They offered me a promotion where you buy 10TB plan, you get another 10TB plan for free, and that ended up costing us $1290.
This is a reputable enough company that's been in business since 2015, own all their servers in Luxembourg and Dallas. I'm hoping to get at least 4+ years of storage with them, ideally a lot longer, and the upfront cost will have been worth it.

If that works for you, then great! Personally, I'd rather they just delete the prohibited file(s) and send the "lifetime" customer a notification. But anyway, that's how they handle those "lifetime" accounts.

Icedrive [icedrive.net] also offers 5 year plans (I think they used to do lifetime as well) with their CEO saying that they are using these higher cost lifetime plans not as a sustainable business model, but instead as front end financing instead of relying on external investors. And hoping that data will get cheaper in the future.
It's a business model that's worked for a few years for pCloud and icedrive, and while there are concerns with how long the company will actually last, this is as cheap as those plans actually get. I'm guessing eventually they will stop offering lifetime plans as well.
It is no surprise that eventually, lifetime plans become unsustainable - especially with a product that offers cloud-based storage. Infact, it should make anyone slightly nervous when they are offered!
That being said, lifetime plans have served a huge purpose and enabled us to secure a large amount of funding without having to relinquish any control of the company to 3rd party investors or conglomerates - Something we feel is extremely important for a privacy focused business.
We would like to thank everyone that has supported us during our infancy (And the future to come!). We are now in a position where we can really push forward and dramatically improve the Icedrive service. There is so much in store in the coming months and we are very excited to start evolving towards our ideal.
Though our experience has taught us that there is a demand for non-recurring offerings - and after all, lifetime plans are something Icedrive is known for. Starting in December 2023, we will be offering 5 year plans. They will be very similar in design to the Lifetime plans - Offering huge discounts compared to the subscription based plans and a simple one time payment for the duration of the 5 years.

You get what you pay for with pCloud. If you are accepting of that...then so far it's fine for what it does.
I primarily purchased as a cloud backup after crashplan changed their plans etc.
I personally trust my Synology more than pCloud.

I've decided to cancel and just build my own nas server because I'll need more storage than 20TB anyways, and can just use external drives for offsite backup of the important info.

My ask would be that you edit your post and mention you are going the NAS route rather than sending people towards pCloud.
Again, it may work for some folks, but I feel like for the average person that wants to use it for backups or as a gdrive/Dropbox replacement it sucks if your files are larger than 300MB
I have had pCloud for over 2 years, I haven't had any issue.
For people who claim they ban account most likely didn't use Crypto folder.
