As for the rower, I know that they are expensive, but I can't say enough good things about a Concept2 rower (RowErg, Model D. Etc). Bulletproof quality and worth every penny in the long run. I've rowed 6 million meters on mine over the last 3 years, and it's still like new! Great online support too.

Comparing a $200 rower to a $1k rower . That's a 5x premium my friend.

You're right, quite a stretch. And on most things, I'm in the "Cheap Bastards Club", just not on this particular item. But who knows, maybe this Pro-Form rower will hold up?
Rowing has become my favorite cardio routine, by far, overtaking even biking. And with Costco's excellent return policy, maybe this could be a good deal, dunno.

I use the Concept 2 rower sometimes at 24 hr fitness, its ok. I can't really get into it because you're doing repetitive motions over and over at a rapid pace, while sitting in a static position. Get's boring quickly for me.

Understood. I used to use one at my local gym occasionally for several minutes, doing a few 500m rows w/ one minute rests in between, just to warm before a cycle class started.
It wasn't that exciting, just looking at the little PM5 monitor on it.
When the pandemic hit in 2020 and my local YMCA shuttered, I bought my own Concept2 rower and put it facing my flat screen TV. Game changer, lol!
Actually even better was when I discovered all the online stuff with Concept2, made my own account with them, and installed their RowErg app on my cellphone. All free, btw (no monthly $ charge).
Concept2 has all kinds of "challenges" you can participate in, with my favorite being their "Workout of the Day", where you can see how your results rank in your age group, etc. They also have real-time races, which I should probably look into more.
Anyway you *don't* need to own your own Concept2 rower to do all that online stuff. I just happened to discover it after getting my own.
It does help to get a phone holder to put on top of the rower's PM5 at the gym (if it doesn't already have one). And you'll likely need a WiFi connection for their RowErg app to work right. I've used my RowErg app at the YMCA with their Concept2 rowers.

I bought a Concept 2 rower for home. I just watch TV on it when I'm rowing. As long as I'm disciplined enough to not watch anything if I'm not on the rower, it's a pretty good motivator.
