Excellent deal, but for those like me without a Depot nearby, and hate tabs, Southwire makes a really nice old work box. Screws into studs from the outside, and solid build quality. I have several of these in my house and would recommend for those wanting to throw more money at quality. Several options, like 2-gang, and fan boxes rated to hold 50 lbs.

new work is when you're building the whole wall - old work is for when you're making a hole in your wall to fit the outlet - they have tabs that come out and secure against the inside ot the drywall.
You have that backwards.

I could use some of these, but the shipping is too high. My last orders were "free" shipping and I could not figure out how they could afford that. Now the shipping is way high. If I were a builder, I would buy a gazillion of these and drive the 140 miles to the store and back. But I will pass on this excellent deal. Thanks, anyway!

My store had over 200 of them. I only needed a few but grabbed some extras as I always need a box or two for various projects.

Do your stores not have any? The website actually told me the stores inventory.

You could, but you can also get low voltage boxes that have just blank space and attach plates for low voltage wires (you can get ones with hdmi ports or just the bristle kind that wires pass through). These boxes add an extra step of punching out sections to pass the wires through.

Unless you are doing power cables - then you need this type.

These are the boxes that go in the wall behind outlets or wall plates. You could use them but you'd need a feed through plate…I got a couple of brush plates.

Also you can get a cable "raceway" - basically a rectangular "pipe" that typically gets stuck to the wall. You can save a *lot* by buying "warehouse" options
