With the recent news that Amazon reserves the right to revoke access to purchased content, I'm not buying digital movies from them going forward.
So, when they think it's politically incorrect, they will just change the movie on their servers, and suddenly you will have a butchered version? If you really love a movie, get the hard copy in your records.
Yes. A friend recently pointed out 28 Days Later is not available on any streaming services, rental options, and out of print. There's one option available to buy Blu Ray on Amazon for $150.

I feel like this is going to start happening more frequently. Long live physical media!

Enjoy tracking down an out-of-print Blu-ray and paying $150. laugh out loud

I bought it on VUDU in 2016 via a $2 Disc to Digital conversion.
I can currently watch in HD at VUDU, iTunes, Microsoft, Google Play, Amazon Prime and Movies Anywhere.

If you bought a movie via Amazon that is MA and later you close your Amazon acct for whatever reason, will the movie still show on MA and other connected services?

Absolutely. Once purchased at Amazon it connects to MA. Can then watch at MA, Vudu, iTunes etc

Understand that part, but wondering if I close (or disconnect from MA) the service in which I purchased (in this case Amazon), will the movie persist in MA?

Once you obtain the license at MA it doesn't matter if you close the account, Amazon, where you initially obtained the title. Once registered at MA the digital license is yours.

If you disconnect from one Amazon account, you have to wait 6 months to connect MA to a different Amazon account.

When I was a teenager (I'm in my mid 30s now) I began collecting DVDs... it became somewhat of an obsession, lol. I felt foolish when Blu-Rays rendered them obsolete, and the couple thousand or so titles I had were basically worthless.

I've since begun buying some 4k discs here and there, and try to get the ones with digital codes whenever possible so that I get a "2 for 1" so to speak... but it does worry me that these digital platforms can theoretically just pull content whenever they want. This happened with the Sony Playstation store not long ago, IIIRC. It's a shame but I think we're moving toward a digital world more and more, and physical media is going to become a very niche thing -- just like how vinyl experienced a resurgence among the hipster music lovers, there will probably be a boutique market for physical media down the line, but I would imagine prices will be much higher in the future as the demand decreases and more independent labels (Criterion being one of the current ones, or Shout Factory) acquire rights to release films and have to pay more licensing fees, etc.

We need to find a way to record and keep our purchases offline.
I mentioned before PlayOn, and paid for lifetime desktop license and they crapped out the software now they want credit system and only 1080p.
