I'm a folding knife collector. I have a few knives over $1000. It's a solid $20 knife for sure. The only problem is it's a flipper and it's spring assisted. There is absolutely zero need for a spring assisted flipper. You can open it just as fast by the flipper tab with the exact same amount of effort. On my non-assisted flippers I just move the lock bar out-of-the-way with my thumb as you're supposed to and flip it shut just as quick as it opens with one hand. Because of the spring assisted now you've got to use two hands to close the blade. Makes absolutely zero sense. They ruined it In my opinion.

I know there is usually Kershaw haters here, "They are now made in China" and such. They are very nice knives, even though I have not bought any other spring-assist brands, I have been very happy.

I have one kinda like this and it's very thin and pocketable, the bar lock style is itself the spring and it's assisted open in that way. Very nice satisfying can't fail I'm gonna say this one is similar

I really appreciate this input! I've just recently gotten back into knives and what you describe about 2-handed closing drives me absolutely nuts! For comparison I just picked up the SenCut Arcblast (an absolutely amazing edc by the way!!) and it's such a pleasure to use the flipper but equally easily release the blade (button lock) and close without any use of the second hand or fear of cutting myself.

The assist open on the Kershaw's feels great but it's a one-way experience and that's just not good enough for my uses. Appreciate your feedback here!

As someone that has about a dozen different Kershaws (some of which are amazing and some are just so-so) and probably 20-30 other knives (including over 10 Benchmades and SpyderCos), I'm not following why two hands are needed to close them. Nearly all of my Kershaws are spring-assisted and I can easily close all of them with one hand. It may have taken a little getting used to years ago, but you just use your thumb to disengage the liner lock and your index finger to slide the blade shut. Only takes about a second and can easily be done without looking.

I'm not a Kershaw fanboy, but I think they're amazing for these prices.

Come on man if you own benchmade and know knives and flippers you understand what I'm saying. I'm not saying it's not a good deal a good knife for the price. I'm saying spring assisted on a flipper serves no purpose and is more of a hindrance than it does good. That's why 99.99% of flippers are not spring assisted. OK you got used to closing it with one hand, but it's not as quick and easy therefore just not needed. And When you're in the middle of doing something with the razor, sharp knife that you can shave with and your mind isn't on closing the knife safely and it's on what you're doing And putting pressure on the blade to close it with one hand leaves more to be desired in the safety department but that's my opinion. I just got my Winteblade factor B3 from the pre-order 8 1/2 months ago and it's awesome by the way. I highly recommend it. That's got to be one of the sharpest knives I've handled. The blade just touched the top of one of my fingers so lightly, I barely felt it, but it cut right into me and started bleeding like a SOB. When you shut the spring assisted with one hand, your little pinky is just dangling free right by the shark mouth.
