XC3 is *technically* a standalone game, but some of the deeper story parts will lose a lot if you don't have a general idea of the whole multiverse thing.

That said, I never made it through XC2 and still enjoyed this one just fine.

still waiting for a deal on the XC3 expansion pass.
So far it has been sold at full price in general.

Best price I can find is at Amazon Japan: https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/dp/B0B512WHXB/

About 17.80 USD... Debating if it is worth it.

One of my favorite games of all time. Can't wait for the next installment Big Grin Highly recommend this series (I have not played Xenoblade Chronicles X yet)

Been playing this game for months and am a little shy of 80 hours in, and I think i am only a little over halfway. lol

Game is long as hell, and it feels a lot slower than the other XC games, probably because you're still unlocking parts of the combat system and getting tutorials for them 25 hours in.

For the digital copies. When you see a Nintendo published games for between 30-40 bucks, it should be almost always an instant buy. They rarely go on sale, and if they do, its not as much of a discount at this. I do use Dekudeals and exceptions always apply.

I played this one first (then the first one remastered after, skipped the second one). Absolutely don't need to play the first two. Like the other poster mentioned, you might miss a few references, but it's an excellent standalone story still.
