Deluxe has guidance for rentals I don't know if Premium has more but have attached screenshots.

What's the difference between these and online?
Free and online versions require you to agree to share your personal information, download versions do not. In addition the download versions cover more forms and situations.

Deluxe desktop will do everything Premium does. Supposedly premium offers extra guidance for a few things, but nobody has been able to demonstrate this.
Just wonder I have been using Premium for years, because I have some part-time self-employed work. Doing online retail. I wonder if I can use Deluxe instead of Premium?

Deluxe download will handle that just fine.

Deluxe $14.99 is all you need. If you live in a State with income tax, then get Deluxe + State $19.99

You don't have to agree to share your information: https://www.washingtonpost.com/te...p-privacy/

Although H&R Block, TaxSlayer, and TaxAct did it illegally (ie without permission) in the past.
https://arstechnica.com/tech-poli...collected/

FreeTaxUSA states [freetaxusa.com] "We do not collect or sell data from the information on your tax return. That information is always kept confidential between you and the IRS."

OLT seems safe too (privacy policy: https://www.olt.com/main/home/pri...curity.php )

Cash App seems the most likely to share your data, but I think they primarily want to sell you their own services. Privacy policy: https://taxes.cash.app/pages/privacy-policy

Agree that download is probably the safest in theory, although this may be more risky with TurboTax now that they require an Intuit account to activate. Even their EULA says they can use and maintain your information according to their Global Policy Statement. https://turbotax.intuit.com/corp/...y%20Intuit.

Edit - actually H&R Block has a similar statement: https://www.hrblock.com/pdf/HRBlo...eement.pdf

For Federal + State, I see you can do 5 federal files with one purchase but how many state files? Same state for both files.
It is important to distinguish between e-filing and filing. You get five federal e-files and no state. I just mail state and it cost nothing. After using the e-files up you can still file unlimited returns both federal and state but would have to ail them all.

But will Deluxe have the same set of interview questions as Premium when it comes to rental property? I'm not well-versed enough on the forms to be able to manually fill out the info myself.

I have a fairly straight forward return. The only one complication is K-1 Form 1065.. Do I need premier or deluxe can process this for out of state investmaents?

I know deluxe will get it done using the interview. Intuit claims additional guidance for rentals, but Block doesn't make that statement. They actually say you need premium for rentals in general, but that's definitely not the case. So who knows.

List of supported forms, which is the same for premium and deluxe: https://www.hrblock.com/tax-softw...available/
You might need to pay for a second state download if there are taxes due in that other state. I don't think premium vs deluxe is a factor for the out of state bit.
