Bear in mind that this rice cooker only holds three uncooked cups. That really isn't much for a family or for recipes which require copious amounts of rice (fried rice or paella, for example).

I'm actually surprised that this exists...the smallest rice cooker from Zo or Tiger I've ever seen is 5.5 cups...

Empty nesters totally don't need a big one. My parents would never cook more than 2 cups ever.

3 cups of uncooked rice is plenty for a family of 4, which most americans average nowadays. I get what you are saying because I grew up with a family of 10 so we needed a largest size. To be fair it's good to go down the middle and get a 5 cup rice cooker for versatility but also practical for small families.

I've had these 3 cup sizes for years, and we had two kids.

It's the perfect size unless you're kids are the size of the Kelce brothers.

Lol, I didnt say that a 3 cup one wasnt useful...I just have never seen them for sale. I have only seen 5.5 cup and 10 cup models...and the price differential for 5 cup doesnt seem to be huge for those interested...

That being said...I paid $140 for a Japanese-made 5.5 cup Tiger IH rice cooker back in 2016 and its flawless. Dunno if inflation would make it more today, but this deal doesnt seem super compelling. Ive used both brands for well over 30 years, and theyre utterly tied in quality, differing mainly in modes/functions. I use both brands side-by-side on a seasonal basis, and for calrose rice, there is no difference.

Considering this is induction, I think it's a great deal. You are right, price difference for a 5.5 cup isn't that much. But, 3 works for me!

Have this model and it's great for a party of two! Also makes fantastic steal cut oats and the best grits ever! My Texas s/o swears that this makes better grits than her grandma does, which I'm told is saying something!

I have the same cooker. While the cooker itself has been working well the inner metal plate has begun to rust. Does anyone know if this is covered under warranty? Any tips to clean the rust?

I think it'd be better to spring for the 5.5 cup variant. It's really not too much bigger; easier to clean and rinse rice within the bowl, and the minimum cooking quantities are pretty similar (0.5-1 cup uncooked rice). The "keep warm" setting on the MIJ Zojirushis is quite fantastic as well.

The more people that there are gathered to eat, the less that anyone cares about the quality of the rice.

I have one of these that is not induction. Anyone have experience with both? Is it very different?

I got the 5 cup version. It cooks great, however once the rice is cooked, I have to take the rice out of the cooker right away otherwise the rice on the wall side of the bowl will get soggy due to condensed water run back down. I can't use keep warm feature anymore because of that.

I checked the seal and the vent, nothing's wrong.
Anybody have the same problem?
