this is the same price on dell.com and it can even be had for a much lower price with 15% from cb site and $40 back from amex if you spend $200.

What a great time for monitors -FINALLY. I paid $500 for Asus 24" 144hz 1080p tn monitor in 2018, then $500 for Asus 27" 165hz 1440p IPS in 2022. Now a superior monitor in terms of srgb%, ports and USBC is available in a much less clunky package for less than half of what I've been paying.

I can only hope that it won't be long before true HDR with individual local dimming is standard at the $500 range.

Asus tend to be priced higher vs similarly spec Dell monitors while having worse warranty. The previous gen Dell 27" 1440p 165Hz gaming monitor S2721DGF was already in the low $300 way back in late 2020.

I'm sitting in front of two of the 2721s and considering the display panel is probably the same, it'll likely need some calibrating. There's some pretty wide variance between the quality of panels. They're fine for gaming and everyday sort of things, but if you're a photo/video editor or are a stickler for color accuracy, might be best to look elsewhere.

Also, just FYI, you can only get a max of 144Hz using HDMI since they're 2.0 and there's not enough bandwidth for more. If you have a DP capable laptop/video card then you can get the 165Hz.

Any word on how long high hertz monitors last? 60 Hertz doesn't seem to break down for me (20+ years) with sometimes one or two capacitors requiring replacement.

My impression with these high hertz and high resolution "gamer" monitors is that they produce more heat and use more electricity.

You can configure it to run @ < 60Hz if you want the other features of the monitor. Definitely cheaper options else where if you have no need for high refresh rate.

I have an Asus monitor with the same specs I bought about 10 years ago, still works perfectly.

I've never had something go on "deal" and then keep plummeting in price so quickly. Buying this at $250 less than a month ago looks horrible now, I was upset at $225 and now I'm even more upset at $199. Slickdeals needs a way to filter out a product for x months after you buy.

Is there any monitor similar or comparable to Apple retina display?
The retina display is excellent and does not cause eye tiredness.

You can get a price adjustment from Dell if purchase was within 30 days from Dell. I got $25 refunded yesterday from Dell. Not sure if Amazon is willing to credit back if purchased from Amazon - I guess you can buy another one at this price and return it under previous order if it's still within return period.
