should be cheaper, considering they are about to expire. this is the same price they were selling them for last month, same expiration date:

Skor > Heath. However, this is still a good deal.

Ugh we are in a dystopia when chocolatey needs to be advertised. Why can't name brands be the gold standard anymore. As it is I have to buy generic KitKats because I'm not a fan of palm oil as a replacement for chocolate

Anyone plowing through these isn't likely scoring, let's be real.

"Good" as in edible, sure, but not good if you don't enjoy waxy/chalky chocolate. This is how all the bars arrived last time I ordered a box of Heath on sale, I can imagine a few years wouldn't help their state
Mine arrived today and the bars are fine with the exception of some breaks. Not crushed, mind you, just broken here and there. No blooming at all. I think that is more often related to the temperature they are stored at vs age. Although yes, butter and milk solids etc. will go bad.

That said, if you put them in your freezer, they will be fine for years. I do it with chocolate all the time.

Even if expired, give out these full-sized candy bars this Halloween and you will be loved for years to come

Give expired cans of soup to the foodbank at Christmas, not so much love.

I hear you. I did receive a box before that did not taste right but this last one tastes good.

I do not know if it is because they change the oils etc. to whatever is cheapest at that time or what. For example, I had a bad batch of Twix but the most recent ones were fine. Same with these Heath bars. Twix though, yes, the chocolate has been very waxy and tasteless for a long time now. Reese's made in England were great, US made meh.

Almost expired is fine for me..

100% will be crushed is what annoys me when Amazon ships food lol.
Candy expiration doesn't really mean much unless it's like decades expired. It won't go bad in the sense that it will get you sick, it will just taste off. Cheaper chocolate tends to get white which is the cocoa butter blooming to the surface, but again that's just aesthetic.

Yes.
24 grams per bar.
The total weight of the bar is barely over 28 grams.

Expiration. As if. This isn't meat.

If you'd ever bought Halloween candy that was near expiration vs. in-season stock, you'd understand.

Always interesting how many people don't know the difference between "expired" and "best by" for different types of food.

Chocolate usually is fine, as is caramel. These aren't even real chocolate. I have a box of these and a box of Skor bars that I bought a couple of years ago and I eat one occasionally. They still taste fine and don't even have blooming. I also have a recently rediscovered box of Toblerone bars that were best by 2021 and they still taste and look perfectly fine. When I cleaned out a storage area in the basement a few months ago I found a box of candy we had packed before our last move 10 years ago. Most of it was still fine, although some gummi bears had hardened significantly (I actually kinda like them like that). Some coffee hard candies were a little more sticky than they should have been, but tasted fine. I did throw out a bar of Milka chocolate with yoghurt filling that expired in 2009. It still smelled fine, but the yoghurt had significantly yellowed and shrunk. I didn't try that one but it probably would have been fine. On the other hand, baked goods like cookies do go bad after some time. They often develop a scent and taste similar to linseed oil. I have had that happen with Animal cookies, crackers, chips, etc. also certain Girl Scout cookies had to be discarded for the same reason after sitting in the cabinet for several years (some flavors like the Samoas seem to be indestructible though, I've eaten ones that were 3 or 4 years old without an issue).

Nothing worse than expired candy corn, except fresh candy corn.
