Just FYI, this is the brushed version. Looking at the 1 star reviews, which is a high percentage, there is a high failure rate, which I'm guessing is due to overheating.

Milwaukee released a new brushless version recently. Running with such high rpm, I think the newer brushless version is better.

Ordered this 4 days ago, comes out to $55.06 for the tool and $43.94 for the battery/charger if you're going to do the "hack."

I have this one, had for several years and it has really put in the work. Having killed a few dremels before, this has beat them hands down. Definitely would like to check out the brushless once mine dies... Hopefully way down the road...

Shoot they sure did. Little disappointed as I held out for a while and only recently caved for this brushed version. That brushless weighs like 40% less and has an LED etc. Seems way nicer.

For someone who doesn't plan on putting in anywhere near 100s of hours of use on basic use - the brushed version is more than enough on a cost value basis

Agreed. I always love to have brushless everything but I used a Milwaukee brushed drill at work for years and it would twist your wrist like crazy when it got stuck and it was the only drill that never broke. We went through plenty of Dewalts so brushed is just fine for at home. That's what I need to keep telling myself!

Is this a good deal (if you don't plan on using the hack)?

Just going off of specs, the most comparable Dremels are probably the 8220 that is $99 https://www.homedepot.com/p/Dreme.../203490547
and the 8240 on sale for $85 on Amazon right now https://a.co/d/7oN1ZB1

Both have better review scores and more accessories.

The 8250/60 are the more expensive brushless ones.

The appeal here is sticking with the m12 battery system.

$55 for the m12 rotary tool and $45 for the battery. $55 is a great deal if you don't n d the extra batteries and $90 is a good deal if you do need the batteries (for use with your other m12 tools).

If you don't already have m12 tools, then the dremel is probably the better rotary tool. However if you need a rotary tool and like to get into m12 tools, then this is a deal.
