Having grilled my share of meat, I don't think that's how it works. It's a steak not a water balloon.

I really like mine. Like the fact that the probes comm with the base station via Bluetooth but the base station comms with the app via wifi / cloud so you can monitor from anywhere.

Don't see how that's any worse than probing meat throughout the cooking process. You poke holes everytime you do it. They don't close up after the fact.

how is the range? I know a lot of these tout 300 foot range but then will barely hit 50 feet if it has to penetrate a wall... I'd like to be able to have this going in the smoker in my detached garage and be able to monitor the temps in my upstairs bedroom...
