FYI this takes a CR2450 battery. There are other AAA versions if you'd prefer.

Luckily, nobody is forcing you to buy one. Smilie
People put them in the cabinet where they store their camera gear to make sure their gear won't get ruined by mold. They put them in their humidor to make sure their cigars won't dry out. They put them in their glasshouses. They put them in their terrarium to make sure their emotional support lizard won't catch a cold. Sometimes these are sold by the dozen, and people buy them by the dozen...

Despite the literature lacking info, it's been confirmed here many times that it's integrated with Google Home. I am using it myself.

If you homebrew and want to control fermentation temps in a cold basement, you can pair them with the Govee space heater and have a cheap way to maintain your target temperature.

I want one because it has e-ink, but I don't like how it uses coin cell batteries (apparently 2450 size). I'm okay with the LCD ones that use AAAs.

Ordered one, I have the govee eink thermometer that uses the 3x aa batteries, and the contrast is so much better than a regular LCD screen. However mine would go through batteries in less than a month, I assume a bug / hardware issue with the wifi or something since this is eink, I ended up using rechargeable batteries. I don't see the complaints on this one, and since it's using a lot smaller cell, I assume they fixed that issue.

I would be VERY cautious about these Govee mini devices that use the 2450 coin batteries. I have DOZENS of the larger model for my cigars and tried about 6 of these mini ones. The battery wouldn't last a month. I've retired all the mini ones and replaced them with the larger model that used AAA batteries.

People here have mentioned they have lots of these already, but this is a NEW VERSION, so not sure how they have so much experience with them. The old LCD model is 5101 and this e-ink display version is 5105.

I am very skeptical of "12 months battery" claim. What really sucks the life out of the battery is the app polling the device to download it's data. The more you do that, the faster your battery is going to die. Those 2450 coin batteries just do not last. I bought a sheet of those 2450's and went through the whole sheet in less than a year.

The larger model that uses 2xAAA batteries last forever (well, at least 1 year), depending how much you poll the device.

So buyer beware on this tiny model -- have a bunch of 2450 coin batteries on hand or just try not to use the app often.

The coupon stacks, I just picked up 4 for $20 off! I use these in my garage for monitoring air temp in different parts to make sure I don't have any hotspots, I also use these in each of the kid bedrooms to check per room temp and automate the AC vents opening and closing / thermostat accordingly. I think I now have close to 20 of these and have them integrated with Home Assistant.

Thanks, this makes a bit of sense, just still wondering what you can do about it once you know? I dunno. I'm weird logical brain and need to see things through.
In the case (pun intended) of guitars and cigars, they need to maintain a specific humidity, esp in the winter, this lets you know if your efforts to maintain that are enough/not enough/just right, instead of just guessing and hoping you got it right.

I just made adapters for the 2450 batteries and have mine running on 18650's.

I don't think it's the display (LCD or e-Ink) that is the cause of battery drain as much as frequent use of the app to download the historical data from the device to your phone. That was the cause in my experience. This new display tech e-ink will use less power I guess but doesn't help when polling your device often.

It's still a guessing by yourself unless it runs an automatic humidifier control. However, a humidifier always has an internal sensor.
