Was doing an Amazon return at the local Staples this morning and came across this. Don't know if it's just a local thing or if others will also be doing the same. I did a double take when I saw the clearance sticker. Another when they actually came out with it.

QA note: Deal is in store only, YMMV http://www.staples.com

Your chance of getting this is VERY ymmv. None of staples store sells gaming console. This must be one of those "purchased online and returned in store" thingy. Instead of shipping it back to warehouse, the manager decided to take the hit and sell it in store starting with couple bucks clearance discount. Once it's placed on clearance, it must be sold within time framez Majority online return are send back to warehouse. So, 99% staples stores may not have this. Kudo for you if you got it.

Thanks for the heads up. Called my local and they never even had any of these in inventory at anytime. Pretty sweet if you can find it though.

Calling first is a good way to clue in unaware employees and have them buy out all their stock. Never call.

This was an extreme YMMV. No way I am driving out for something like that.

Lol. and driving 45 minutes makes sense? How about "Do you sell video game consoles?" That's pretty generic and at least gives an answer

Well you're not getting it either way then. Why bother calling and ruining others' chances? Rookie mistake.

Not every employee is a scalper. Some may have absolutely no interest in gaming…like the middle aged woman that answered the phone when I called.

Just going to add that the average Staples employee makes about $10.30 an hour, and their discount is 10%. Even if these were widely available, underpaid people aren't usually going to be able to swing it.

I do agree with the never call though.

If they say "we sell Playstation", I could justify driving and giving it a chance. "we don't see gaming consoles" pretty much sums it up.
