The $20 jacket at 32 degrees has polyester filling. That will be nowhere near as warm by weight as a down jacket.

32 degrees does have a true down jacket like this for $25 but it doesn't have a hood and the fill power of the down is only 580 vs 650 on the Columbia. Plus the Columbia is backed by an actual warranty.

Up to you if that's worth 3x the price but no, they are objectively not the same quality.

This one has a hood but is only 650 fill down while the Patagonia is 800 fill goose down. According to the Columbia Team question answer on the product page, this one is made from duck and not goose down.

What's the filling material? Is it duck down? goose down? or synthetic material? Thank you

The price difference was well justified.
It should be enough as a midlayer for skiing, I think.

This is a good deal, but has anyone read how down coats (mostly sourced from China) are made? The practice for sourcing down feathers (esp in China) is pretty disgusting, and I've personally committed to avoiding any products with natural down. There are excellent synthetic alternatives.
