FAQ's:

Always a good deal for me. I spend a lot on Amazon, so I purchase these Visa/MasterCard with Chase Ink Cash or Amex SimplyCash, then use them to buy Amazon gift cards from local grocery stores, which give 3% back as store credit for groceries. So, effectively, about 8% discount for Amazon purchases which don't need extra warranty protections.

Almost done with the $8K spend requirement of the Ink Preferred. I may end up picking up one to round it up... Time to start spending these; I'm sitting on quite a few of them.

How do you get the 3% back as store credit at your local grocery stores? Is that using a grocery store rewards card? What grocery store(s) offer that?

Need to consider you lose 5% interest if you can't spend that much on Amazon

Sure, if you hold them for a whole year and don't spend them. In that case, probably need to find better ways to liquid these Visa/MasterCard prepaid cards.

Good way to rack up CC points:
Prepay taxes
Prepay electric bill
prepay gas bill
Prepay insurance bills (auto or home)
Prepay health insurance

Good way to hit signup bonuses. Did the INK preferred last month and working on Capital One Spark now.

One consideration: The 5% interest in savings is taxable. The 5% CC rewards is not.

Is that Acme card same as acme online account (phone number)? does the 3% have an expiration date? I use phone number when checkout, but have no idea about 3%

thanks

Just recently, at least in the Seattle area, none of the Kroger stores accept these as payment for gift card purchases, kind of messes up my fuel point accumulation.

Has anyone used one of these cards as debit at Costco, then returned the item for a refund, and received cash in return, as they usually do this for debit card purchases?

Use it as Costco as a regular debit card. Never used it at costco with the intent of returning the item.

At least at my local Costco, when you do a return they scan the receipt and the payment is returned to the card used automatically. I'd make sure you are buying something you would never return, as the only return that was ever attempted by me on one of these prepaid cards never appeared, learned my lesson

Couldn't you tell them at the beginning that you'd like to receive the refund amount as a Costco cash card?

If you plan to use these cards at Costco and don't want to deal with return issues, etc., you could purchase $200 Costco cash card online and use those for purchases instead.
