No way.
You wash your shoes? no wonder they fall apart
Just saw the shoprunner option. let's see if that works for 1 pair at $50

So, I gotta get two pairs to qualify for free shipping? Only want the blue, the other two colors are eyesore.

Your foot is wrapped around a tree fiber based upper with EVA foam soles. All with a wool lining. Your foot is going to be trapped in with all of the heat it produces.
The wool is only around the heel, and EVA is standard in most athletic shoes. Since most synthetic uppers don't breathe well, these won't be any worse than any other similar shoe, and may be better due to the more open weave of the upper.

TBH Allbirds don't last very long. I'm 6' tall and 200 lbs. I've owned 3 pairs and they all barely lasted a year before they ripped or inner soles started wearing out. Yes, they are initially comfortable until the first 3 washes but the integrity of the shoes degrades exponentially with time. Great for casual/lazy use but terrible for long durations. Durability is trash
Mine have lasted a really long time. I walk 5-10 miles every day and these have lasted two years and counting.

Can these be worn in summer?
Yes, if you are around trees.

These actually have held up very well over the last year. They've gone to Disney probably 20 times, a week of Halloween horror nights in the rain in Orlando. Still comfortable with no real sign of anything coming apart. I've washed them in the shower and dried on a boot dryer.

The wool mizzles are also very nice and have lasted an equal number of trips including two visits to Japan with all the walking involved there.

I guess polarizing is the right word, because even though they're probably the ugliest shoes that I own, I wear them a lot because they're so comfortable.

Super comfortable! I own 3 pairs and wore one right out of the box on a two mile walk and didn't get one blister

Sure but you're not going to be wearing no socks on athletic shoes. Allbirds aren't going to be any different....don't wear them without socks if you don't want your feet all sweaty and squeeking around when you're walking in them.

Nice, I was able to get free shipping on the $49 order. Had to enter in coupon code at the end, and click x when it popped up the "$1 away from free shipping", as the option was already selected. $52.80 total

slick!!

What's their midsole technology? How does it compare to ASICS? Or Ultraboost? More like a fashion company to me.

I love their 100% wool ones. Warm when you need it. Cool and breathable when you don't. But these here are made from something else (eucalyptus).

If you want the wool ones, Walmart.com regularly sells them for ~$40, far cheaper than direct. (But I don't see these Tree Runners there). Note that when you order from Walmart, the shoes come without any Allbirds packaging which sounds sketch. But I've compared them. After wearing the Walmart-sourced ones for a year, they hold up well and I can't see any difference.

You can also find a very comfortable pair of shoes and stylish as well. There's no denying these shoes are ugly. They are probably comforable but they skimp on the aesthetics of it.

To get the shoprunner free shipping with 49$ order, I delayed adding the coupon until on the payment details step and that worked. I assume the algorithm mistakenly considered tax at that point. Previously, when i applied the coupon earlier in the process, it was considered ineligible for shoprunner
Thanks. Tried a few different ways of checking out (including your late-coupon-apply strategy) - but looks like they've closed that loop hole.

Works for wide feet? I'm 12.5EE in Allen Edmonds
Yes, although they are not made for wide feet specifically, the material on tree runners is stretchy enough to accommodate. I'm a 4E and they're comfy.

Are there any allbirds that can be worn without socks without feet being sweaty?

This probably personal opinion on what sweaty feet are, but I wear my tree runners and wool runners without socks often. No issues with either. I wore tree runners around Disney without issue, well maybe wanting to wash my feet…

From the description it's just EVA with some bespoke marketing language sprinkled in.

Sustainable Materials:
  • FSC-certified TENCEL™ Lyocell (eucalyptus tree fiber) upper
  • SweetFoam® midsole made with sugarcane-based green EVA
  • Bio-based TPU eyelets
  • Shoe laces made from recycled plastic bottles
  • Castor bean oil-based insole foam
  • ZQ merino wool heel lining
  • Some models may include a wool-lined insole instead of the TENCEL™-lined insole featured in the image
