They cut loose the 8 and X models this cycle. The remaining X lineup and the 11s might be dumped this fall. So maybe a year and a half for the 12s, but could be 2.5 years. Just my best guess.

I got caught by surprise when they pulled the plug on my 6s - a few months after I paid Apple to put in a new battery. It still has 100% battery health.

I'd still be using that 6s if not for the fact that you have to have an iPhone with the latest iOS to be able to update your Apple Watch. And my Apple watch is the best thing since sliced bread.

Current iOS 17 is available on XR (released in 2018). So 12 pro should get updates for at least 3 more years.

80% battery health is not great, I consider 90+ to be good and 95+ to be awesome

XR was released in 2018, 11 came in 2019. Its highly unlikely 11 would lose support next year.
I haven't thumbed down any comment wtf
yes 11 loses upgrade support next year. this year XS loses support

Well iPhone X lost support already, 11 and XR will next year and then 12 in 2 yrs. I dont consider 2 yrs to be a very long time for software support.

please do your research before thumbs downing a comment
This is the timeline

Security does not count. most people dont want to be on an older IOS.
Are you sure? I would wager most people don't care what version of software runs on their iPhone.

I bought from amazon once, and it was 70% battery.
They guarantee 80% min. U could have returned it.
I bought a 13 recently. Got 89% battery health.

Just upgraded to the 15 pro from the 12 Pro last fall and to be honest, don't really notice any speed bump. Just a better camera with stronger zoom and low light is the biggest change.
Bingo! It's not like pre iPhone 6 where massive upgrades were felt every year.

I had the real OG in 2007, then iPhone 3G in 2008, iPhone 4 in 2010, iPhones 5 2012, and then iPhone 6s to then realize the advances were slowing with 7 and 8, so waited until 2018 to get the XR and that's what I still have.

I'm looking to spend no more than $300 on my next upgrade. I do want to upgrade this year as my battery life is like less than 80% charge so have to charge several times during the day.

I want a 13 or so this year so hoping maybe around Prime Days or even BF this fall they will be under that price mark.

I had $100 point credit on a payment option so I ordered one for my kid to see if it's worthwhile.
