The word is not here, not on the product page, not in the manual.

It uses a shitty cr2450 battery. Because F you that's why.

They could have used a real battery and it would last for years, but instead you will be replacing a $4-$6 battery every 9-12 months.

Nice price. I have one in my attic to track temperature and see how much my attic fan helps with the ventilation.

Yeah had to click on the user manual to see that little detail. Shame. I could use something like this and it's a nice price.

This is on sale for $25 and should do the trick for you. The have larger sizes on sale as well if you search through amazon. Also you can use this advertised hydrometer and pair them together in the app

I have this Govee heater, which has a thermometer but it's a bit inaccurate. Totally fine for an attic or general house upkeep, but not to maintain within 2-4 degrees.

I have now paired the heater with this Govee thermometer, which makes for a much more accurate combination (because you can place it wherever, and because the temp sensor isn't *on* the heater itself).

You can also set your heater to trigger automatically to maintain a certain temperature. And because the heater is wi-fi enabled, I think you can do this from away from home. The device has a 24-hour automatic shutoff, but you can circumvent this with a daily schedule (OFF every day at 00:00, ON every day at 00:01)

I have 3 H5075. They use 2 AAA batts. They are ok. A bitch to properly calibrate. But the biggest annoyance is they refresh something like every 20sec. That's ridiculously wasteful. Not only does it make temp/humidity graphs noisy and spikey but it wastes batt life.

I only need one if I can set Google or Alexa condition to turn on my space heater if temp goes below certain level. But looks like this doesnt offer such feature. This product seem to do it but way more expensive

I use the H5075 for just that. Have to have it paired with a Govee smart switch. The smart switch acts like the gateway, as the meter is bluetooth only.

I'd say almost all new govee meters support the "distributed gateway" feature. Google "govee distributed gateway" for the list.

Anyway to connect this to home network so that can access remotely, out of the residence? Ultimately, wishing to turn on/off heating from an AC plugged heater depending on temperature during any part of 24 hr. The environment is a rented apartment. Thus, don't have any of the modern wifi temperature system e.g. Google Nest, central heating
Google "govee distributed gateway". I have a H5075 paired with a smart switch.

Thanks for the feedback. I am not looking for details, but some broad info. Connect this BT thermometer as well as a heater plugged into a wifi enabled plug e.g. Amazon, TP-Link/Kasa to a Home Assistant system. Then, the heating can be programmed to turn on/off when specific min/max temperature is reported by the thermometer?

Is this Govee thermometer a good candidate for this use with HA?
Just use Google to see if the Govee model and the plug compatible.

Home Assistant is awesome, but setup can be a little geeky. It's way easier than when I got into it. The big value proposition is that HA encourages local control of your stuff and they're vendor agnostic. Some devices are tied to the cloud, but they'll still probably work. The ecosystem is huge.

HA can run in a virtual machine. A cheap mini PC would be great. Raspi works well enough. HA sells devices now if you want really easy. People who set HA up on a computer they use regularly always complain when things go down after a windows update.

For your plug, sonoff has a wifi one that can be locallly controlled. And this Govee thermometer uses bluetooth, so you need to make sure your installing PC has bluetooth (most do these days).
