Honda calls out 0W-20 in the USA, but they allow/use 5W-30 in other countries. In Germany, dealers use 5W-40. It doesn't really matter all that much.

FYI 5W-40 is the suggested oil for most diesel applications, while 5W-30 oil is the recommended oil for many gasoline.

What do people think about using this on an 05 RAV4 that is leaking oil during driving. My manual says 5w-30 but thinking it's too thin and wanting to try this.

Recommend using their red jug semisyth high mileage oil. They're cheap at Walmart.

The brand doesn't matter but viscosity does. Usually Honda Civics used 5W-20 but newer they switched to 0W-20. I'm pretty sure 5W-20 would still be ok (especially for hot/warm climates) BUT that said it's best to stick to what manufacturer recommends. Also 0W-20 is widely available right now anyways

Yep. 0w split viscosity improves the EPA cycle mileage. That's why there's a ton of cars in the US that (even with the same engine as earlier models) started getting 0wXX in the late 00's.
