Walmart had Apple Watch Series 8 GPS + Cellular 41mm RED Aluminum Case with RED Sport Band - M/L for $199 a couple days ago. And currently even list the Series 8 GPS 45mm (PRODUCT)RED Aluminum Case with (PRODUCT)RED Sport Band - M/L at $129 on their site now. Apple Watch Series 8 GPS 45mm (PRODUCT)RED Aluminum Case with (PRODUCT)RED Sport Band - $129 [walmart.com]. Unfortunately those are all OOS now. Not sure if any store still has these for clearance.

Watches have a much longer life than phones, in general. My wife is still using her series 3 and I have an SE (first gen) and both are going strong, no lag. The only watch we ever had to retire was a zero with a swollen battery.

I'm still using my Series 4 with 81% battery life. I wouldn't go so far as to say "no lag", but it's still very serviceable. The newer watches don't add much other than always on display and general upgrades. Hoping the Series X adds something new or is finally a complete redesign.

Speculation on my part but I don't think it was a pricing error and instead it's due to the unpopularity of the red color. At Target the base S8 45mm and base S8 41mm has been $229/$200 respectively several times over the past few weeks. The color red always sells out last. So my guess is Walmart is trying to clear out inventory of the red color by discounting the price further from $229 down to $129.
