4 year protection plan is $45 through Walmart. Based on feedback about power smart, it would be a good idea to do the extra Walmart protection.

I agree it is a good deal, that's why I upvoted it.

The reviews unfortunately are mostly incentivized and also there are many "fake reviews" aside from that.

The wording on a lot of positive reviews are written as if done by AI or someone on a script. Don't you see that?

I stand by my original post, it would be very smart to buy extra warranty with this item.

I used this in one of the snowiest winters on record last year in Minnesota. Worked great and really throws snow far. The only risk in these is getting parts down the road.

Laugh, but I don't think we've had a snowy winter here in NYC in years. Even the lakes don't freeze anymore to ice skate on. Don't know if it's climate change, but it's noticeable.

Or you can just buy an Ariens and call it a day for next 20+years
Just make sure you check the head for mouse nests and check the valves yearly. Had a mouse build a nest that was hidden on the head above the valve cover, caused the head to overheat, valve seal slid up, snapped the exhaust rod and bent the intake rod, chunk of something got into the cylinder scoring the crap out of the wall…
Never realized mice can kill an engine by insulating it with their nest, expensive lesson…

Might be a dumb question, but how much assembly is required?

Meanwhile, up here in Anchorage we are on the verge of breaking the record for the most snowfall in a season.

It comes in a 4x4x4 box if that helps. Everything must be assembled.

If my SIL gave me this I'd beat his donkey all the way down the driveway.

I almost bought the similar model PowerSmart on clearance at Home Depot yesterday ($400). But didn't. That one came with heated handles, but no remote chute deflector control, that this model has, and that is a deal breaker for me.
Heated handles, lol. Trying to imagine myself out there snow blowing without gloves on.

This is a pretty solid deal. I always buy things like this with an AMEX card to get an extended year warranty.

What is cheap on it? Do you think it's a good deal at $300? Thx...

If you don't get storms which bring 12+" at once, this is too much snow blower for you. Stick with a single-stage thrower.
a a single stage can't handle anything wet and more than 6in... so your highly misinformed or inexperienced

Trust me, Powersmart stuff is terrible. I won a ton of there stuff. The lawn equipment is terrible and when people comment on their social media, Powersmart blocks them and deletes all the negative stuff.
Unless you are buying a toy to play in 6 inches of snow, spend the money once and get Ariens, Toro or the best... Honda. The last thing you want to do in the middle of a snow storm is fart around with Chinese junk.

Live in Chicago but the last few winters have been quite mild so have not used this snowblower much. Bought the snowblower two years ago from the same Walmart deal. Overall does it's job. So far I have had no issues with it starting. I did have to tighten the auger belt this year. Hopefully it's not a sign that I have to replace it anytime soon.

Before this I did have ariens. While the ariens was more powerful, I have no regrets with the powersmart. Overall it's a good deal for how much it costs and is much better than the free works single state 40v electric snowblower which I've also tried in the past.
