I love tteokbokki, I'll give all 3 flavors a try. Bought 2 packs for each.

No need to be concerned about the sodium levels like someone was in the comments. Just don't eat all of the sauce.

Tteokbokki goes well with hardboiled egg fyi. Throw in some green onions as well.

If you wanted to go a step further, buy some fishcakes from ur local asian grocery and throw some in as well.
There's no right way or wrong way to use the exact ingredients but the sauce is the main thing. You should be able to get most of this stuff in your local asian market. My may is not conventional so here it is.

You can google how to make this stuff in the web but here's my ingredients

1 2-lb or 1kg of plain rice cakes, note that you can buy the flat kind and not the roll kind.
3 tablespoon of gochujang paste. Note if it is too hot, you can mix 1/2 of hot gochujang paste and the other half black bean paste.
1-2 tablespoon of raw sugar
1 tablespoon of soup stock powder instead of soy sauce for the umami flavor especially if it has msg
1 6-10 oz of fish cakes. Note that I never used fish cakes and used 1 lb of ground pork instead because it was cheaper
1 tablespoon of garlic
For vegetables:
I use about 12oz to 1lb of green cabbage or napa cabbage.
1 onion chopped
You can use mushrooms or scallons but this is optional.
You can use hard boiled eggs too but it is optional.
Yeah. Cause 1/4 tsp of salt is a lot!

Same as 3 tbsp of ketchup.

Thanks for keeping us updated on how healthy you are

Ok, you've got me interested. I've never heard of these before. Is the texture kinda noodley or is it more chewy?

It's like a chewy soft rice cake, similar to the texture gnocchi or dumplings in a chicken and dumpling soup

These are chewy, with a pillowy bounce. What I like is the spice mixed with the comfiness of the dish. I got these as well as a two pack of the original and one of the sweet chili ones.
Once you dress these with sesame seeds and green onions, the whole thing shines. It is common to add slices of American cheese on top. I do a Mexican fusion adding quesillo (known also as Oaxaca) strings for a very melty, spicy, and chewy treat.
I hope you like these! Thank you for your comment
