I use this lens in my Sony and it's amazing. It does weigh but it replaced 3 primes for me and it's incredibly good value. I assume it's equally good on the Nikon.

I have this lens. It's totally worth it for the original price. There's no zoom lens like it.

No idea about your camera, but the other 35-150 could have bought on black friday for $800ish (for sony e-mount)

Not the one your responding to but that was the samyang.. granted it was $800 so might of been worth the hassle at that price(I had already bought the Tamron)..I went through 2 samyang before I gave up on them as their autofocus was slower and the creep was really bad in both of them. But for that much cheaper might of been worth it.

I think I paid $1100 or so for mine (I forget, bought it when they first came out), and I've been happy with it. Only change I would like to see is closer focus capability, and I think it already focuses closer than the Tamron. I don't have anything against Tamron - I love my 150-500 Tamron. Just can't justify the price difference.

Did you do the firmware update? I always wondered if they did a lot of fixes in it. I know some said it focused better after that.

Also is the 150-500 really that good? I've been looking at the 200-600

Not sure if I did a firmware update, I might have when I first got it.

Here's some downsized photos from it (click to zoom, or right-click, copy url and paste to see larger size):

edit: here's the full sized pic: https://i.ibb.co/5TjN6Tp/DSC03749.jpg It was shot with eye-AF on the bird. Despite it being like f/5.6, it has the best bokeh of all my lenses.

I have the A7CR. I just hand hold the camera, so these are random snaps I took while walking around.

I decided to go with the 500mm because the reach of the 600 wasn't much more, and for the price difference, it wasn't worth it to me. The 61 mp means I can do a bit of cropping anyway.

The IQ on the birds and squirrel is very sharp and impressive. All the pictures honestly look very good. Was that hand held or monopod or something? I need to research that lens more.

I don't own a tripod. All hand held.

My previous camera was the A7RII, and the AI autofocus on the CR is amazing to me.
