What's the difference between a 4090 in a laptop compare and a desktop?

If the original price is right, less than 7% off doesn't sound like slick deal to me.

To be able to charge this laptop via a laptop dock with USB-C, it's gotta output a minimum of 140W correct?

Absolutely.

For this price, I would expect minimum the superior Intel 13900HX, 5600Mhz ram and 2TB storage.
13900HX is not superior to 7945HX in any angle, whether performance or in efficiency. Do check some actual reviews.

No, it means max charging power supported via Type-C is 140W and the normal 100W or 80W PD Chargers work as well.

I see the 4080 is roughly $430 less. Is the extra money worth the upgrade to a 4090?

The desktop GPU scores about 30% higher in passmark benchmarks, and gets 146fps vs 99fps in DirectX 12 tests.

The 4090 laptop GPU will get you about 108fps in directX 12 games vs 99fps on a 4080.

Roughly speaking the 4090 could be seen as 10% more energy efficient or 10% faster.

Both have the same amount of video RAM.

Thank you for clarifying. I bought another legion 5 laptop from another deal that advertised 135W PD usbc. I plug in the laptop to a Dell D6000 dock with 130W support and it does not charge, even when on sleep mode.

Thank you both for the 4080/4090 price question. I think I'll stick with the 4080 I had looked at. I'm not planning on getting a 4K TV/Monitor anytime soon. I've got a good tv and monitor that are 2 or 3 years old. I don't think the 4090 would be worth it for those. I'll think about upgrading to 4K a few years down the road, but for now I'll save the $.
Thanks again!

No. I have a 4090 desktop as my main gaming rig, and got this Pro 7 with a 4080. Currently using the 4080 to drive a 5120x1440 in my studio/second office. The mobile variant 4090 isn't worth the % price increase versus the desktop variant.
