$11 shipping kills it unless available for pick up in your area.

I've been following the new sales today and they have matched on some but have yet to auto-match on Octopath Traveler II. As far as Best Buy goes in my more recent experience they do not price match GameStop anymore. It seems it was among some policy changes implemented some time last year.

edit: for what it's worth I've seen Shin Megami Tensei V at a couple of Walmart locations for $19.93 in the store, though YMMV due to sporadic availability at this point

The free shipping threshold is only $25 if you order in store with Gamestop. Though I would order one item at a time as they may cancel it if they try fulfilling it from a store and they don't have everything.

Word is switch titles are slowing working their way out of the retail outlets (I imagine re-release for switch 2 if it has physical and I don't see why they'd quit considering they beat apple, sony, ms for gaming revenues last 5 years with ease and physical is a big reason why)

The need room for Switch 2 titles maybe? If it's backwards compatible the less physical copies the better for Nintendo to "remaster" them.

Or retailers want to go all digital too which would be such a hit to people wanting physical media.

Yeah if there is anyone that is going to be the last holdout with physical media in the future it will in all likelihood be Nintendo. It still represents a big part of their game sales revenue and at a higher ratio compared to digital vs PlayStation and Xbox. Plus they are a company that in some ways does certain things at times in a more traditional and/or stubborn way, for better or for worse. In this case for the better since I would want to have the option of physical media.

they have the best of all words, including 3rd world sales L0lz

hot title out of stock? buy digital for impatient buyers? check! (can instantly convert an instant gratification sale before people get distracted onto something else)
funnelling off a lot of buyers into digital, keeping retail prices higher (with like 50 percent less chance of a game being resold overall digital and physical sales...because half probably buy digital...my guess/estimate)
collectors editions with media that sell for extravagant retail prices? check!
collectors buying games just to collect, buying more games than they might normally/naturally? check
people turned off by digital version shove (with the cheaper digital only consoles) and turned off by subscription models? they offer physical...check!
no retail option in your area? digital store! check and checkmate

Also an impulse digital buy? No returns ever! You own nothing so you can't return nothing!

None of my local stores ever seem to be available for pickup. I'll wait and hope Amazon matches.

I'll stay away from GameStop, they had jacked up the prices of pre-owned games, also the shipping kills any deal, without saying their terrible anti-customer service.

Their inventory system is messed up to where unless they have 2+ of an item it will show up as unavailable. However the employees in store can look up availability at other stores in the area to at least give you an idea of which one to go to. I've even had employees call the store(s) showing inventory and place a hold on the items until I could get there.
