Not sure where you're getting your info from. Majority of gaming monitors sold today are VA panels. Quality VA panels produce much deeper colors and vibrancy which you won't see in IPS. Yes some ghosting is expected but only an issue for hard-core FPS shooters.

This is a highly personal choice. Since it's Microcenter, I recommend going into the store and compare for yourself. If you're ok with what VA shows compared directly with an IPS version of monitor, then this is a great deal.

Which 3000 series card could regularly yield min 60 fps in apex with this monitor?

This would be good for gaming on the bottom, work on the top via a mounted second large monitor.

in fact two of these one on top of the other sounds pretty ideal to me. any modern video card would be able to handle that

Neither did I until it didn't work 😂 I have a mid level gaming laptop with dedicated nvidia card, but I confirmed via MSI that it couldn't push the full resolution.
Did you try a dock with displaylink? My spouses work laptop alone can't push 1440p. But we got her a dock and she has a 49" ultra wide samsung at 5120x1440 and another side monitor and it works fine through the dock.

I went to microcenter just to check one of these out. Unfortunately compared to the 34" ultrawide I currently use the panel seemed to be noticeably smaller height-wise. So I personally would only consider a 49" as an upgrade.
What 34" monitor are you using? That seems to be my only gripe with some of these. That the height of the actual display is ~13".

34" ultra wide and 49" super ultra wide are the same or close height to a 27" monitor. This is probably closer to the height of a 24"

just wondering if anyone has this monitor and if you can speak to if black smearing is a noticeable issue with this panel? - i mainly would use it for productivity, then maybe 25% entertainment & gaming.

looking at this one specifically cause i don't like as big of a curvature and slightly higher ppi and usbc connection are both appreciated.

I have it, pricematched to Best Buy for this price. Haven't noticed any black smearing. Use it for work and gaming, really looks great IMO. I tried and returned the newer Samsung OLED over black friday. Couldn't handle the text clarity for work. Not sure if all OLEDs suffer from that, but it seems to be a common issue that some people notice more than others.

At the moment I use one of the 35" costco LG ultra wides. I also have older mag 34" ultrawide. Both VA panels, the LG is much better.
