Long story short, the box won't get DHCP from server (lacking the trace capturing ability doesn't help troubleshooting). Needed to get an alpha firmware from this forum https://forum.gl-inet.com/t/beryl...ng/37999/8
Also, just in case if the environment you are in restricts random MAC, the work around is:
Navigate to Network -> MAC Address
Instead of using factory default, I took the MAC of the Ethernet and provisioned under Manual page to supply to the Repeater interface.

The repeat mode is for no brainer...I have been using it since day 1 , a very straightforward setup process. it acts as a DHCP server to the downstream connections on default...
This is my first cruise with this or any wifi travel router.i telework on cruises some so i need at least 2 connections or deal with nothing for my phone when I'm working. The issue in dealing with is disconnects from this wifi router. Still debugging it, but i am starting to notice the light on this router going from solid to blinking and my phone disconnected and this ssid is not available until the light is solid again. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm worried the cruise line is figuring out ways to stop this. Or the router or usb cord could have an issue.

I've used it on a United flight once as a dlna server streaming media from a thumb drive. It interfered with the flight's WiFi because the radio broadcast power was set to "high". Whoops!

Actually, it is impossible. It uses one wi-fi band to receive signal, using another wi-fi band to resend signal. There is no interference at all
