Replaced it with the fnirsi on Amazon so I can at least get a warranty after a month.

The 88W is with 24V using the DC power jack which would allow more current. There's experimental support for 28V for the latest USB PD protocols that new laptops are using which would allow the Pinecil to run 126W.
In practice if you're soldering something that needs more than 65 watts, you probably wouldn't use this tool for it anyways. The surface area of the tips is small for that much heat.

For 'helping hands', I use pliers with rubber bands on the handles to give small components a gentle squeeze.
I figure start with something like this, get a feel for soldering low-stakes, and then see if there's anything you want to upgrade as you go.
Ah I see the yellow "Choice" icon, not sure what that indicates exactly.
And what is a good price for a tip on that platform, in your experience/opinion?
I am seeing that you can get them as low as $3.88 (free ship), vs pine's listing for $6 (paid ship) each
