Ehh. Multi-function printers can easily scan any/all documents. Plenty of good scan apps available as well. I see no need to have a dedicated scanner for $200+. Pass

Slow down turbo:

Not everyone has a scan capable printer, many multi function scanners on printers aren't very good quality, many don't scan both sides of the page, some people don't have space for a print scanner.

Scanning apps require a good shot, and photographing every page, some has stacks of papers to scan at a time. They may work in a pinch, but not ideal if you have to scan often.

This is an above average, well reviewed scanner. If it fits your work flow, it's a decent deal, if you need cheap, I think there might be brother branded scanners that are under 150.

I'm debating on getting this to replace a neat scanner that requires messing with old install files to get to work, otherwise they are now trying to require a sub 👎

Agreed. It's all about workflow. I have 2 all in ones with scanners around the house, and the one I use the most is the small dedicated scanner in the kitchen where the mail gets opened. Get a bill or receipt? Toss it on the scanner and hit a button and it automatically scans and puts in a folder on my NAS. That gets backed up to cloud automatically. Don't have to open an app or turn on the computer. If it's effort to scan, you end up stacking it up to do in a batch later, and that's when things get missed.

I used to think like the 1st poster...until I got a dedicated document scanner. It's been invaluable. I scan all my important documents seamlessly into my NAS, as well as things like passports, ID cards, whatever. It lowers the "hassle-factor" low enough where it's no longer a "thing". Otherwise, the work would pile up, and I probably wouldn't do it .

I have a MFP that, in theory, does the same work, but it's clunky and awkward to use for that purpose.

The magic with a document scanner is in the specific function that its built for, and it's integration with the scanning software.

For reference, I have a Fuji Scansnap, which has been the standard for home-office scanners for the last 10 years.

I agree; All-in-One will scan a couple of papers here and there or once in awhile, then you don't need it. But if you have a decent amount of documents that you scan occasionally, or have a small home office, then this will do the job. But again, I would rather have an old HP laserjet printer and this scanner than a new All-in-one.

I have used the Fujitsu Scansnap 1500M for many many years. When I purchased it, I also had a MFC printer and wondering if this was worth the high price. In retrospect, it has a high entry price but it also is worth every penny and for its use and longevity, rather inexpensive. When and if this breaks, I will immediately buy another Fujitsu. MFP scanning function doesnt compare.
