Okay, okay, prices are going in the right direction. 4tb for $150 let's go..
We had 4TB 870 EVOs direct from Samsung for $180 after incentives last Black Friday. Thats a TLC drive with 4GB of DRAM. Now prices are back around $300.
This is a QLC drive with no DRAM. It's trash. Don't take it as a price trend. Flash prices are rising, and we were warned it was coming. You missed the boat if you waited through this past winter.

I didn't need any big SSDs in the winter and still don't really need one now. It's a want, not a need. Prices rise and fall all the time, but generally trend downwards as new technology hits the market. Gen 5 drives are already out and Gen 4 will eventually drop again.
I have more spare drives than I can use. I just picked up two 500gb HP m.2 SSD's for $15 each that I'll just throw in my desktop for extra space.

The thing is that it is artificial. The industry decided to make fewer products driving prices up. Tech should become cheaper or you get more for the same price.
Just wanted to comment that not having a DRAM cache is totally fine as long as you're not expecting to write gigabytes of data throughout your day. And even then, most of us would be using this drive for games, and those games won't be affected by lack of DRAM cache as long as you don't overstuff the drive.
SATA III SSDs are still fine for PC gaming, despite the PS5 demanding NVME drives. PC ports of even Sony PS5 first-party games have shown this (e.g. Rachet and Clank, Spiderman, etc). For sure, as time goes on, and NVME will be more beneficial because games are getting heavier and more complex. But it'll be a while before [up to] 550 MB/s isn't fast enough for a game.

This drive would cost more than the computer it is going into, so no bueno.

Previous comment talked about gen 4 to 5 and 4 getting cheaper. That's nvme.
There are no more updates for sata. It's stuck.
Even during the price drops last year sata didn't go down much. It was nvme dropping like a rock.
