Kirkland is currently $20 for a 5qt jug and you have to buy at least 2. Furthermore, as discussed many times on SD, Kirkland motor oil is manufactured by HighlineWarren. This is the same oil as Walmart's in house brand, Supertech, which goes for $19.

Some folks prefer a Castrol, Mobile, Pennzoil… etc. I'm not saying these brands are any better than HighlineWarren, but if you compare the material safety data sheets, some of them have a more robust additive package and/or use a higher quality base oil.

At the end of the day it's your choice what you put into your car. To each their own.

They are all about the same. More like just brand preference.

Is this a step down from Castrol's Syntec brand? I assume Castrol is making synthetics for different price points like Pennzoil and Mobil do.

Perfectly fine for most people.

I just bought one of each (0W-20 & 4W-20). HOWEVER, I did so even though I know from experience that Amazon does a miserable job of shipping heavy jugs of stuff alongside delicate items, ESPECIALLY with a monthly Subscribe & Save order.
I will not be at all surprised if a 5qt container crushes my windshield wiper blade or my package of K-cups.
I'm such a fool, but at least I'm warning you ... think twice before being foolish, too.
