Got one in a week ago for $24.42. Haven't used them yet, but just having the sharpening angle guide and dual grit sharpening stone has to be worth at least $10-15. I know a lot of people hate blow molded cases, but for infrequent use, I love the option of putting them away.

No comment about deal quality, but it's confusing that this is presented as a carving set. This is a set of chisels, great for joinery and general woodworking, not great for carving spoons/toys/figures etc.

Agreed, also this is a repost from a few weeks ago at the same price.

Yeah, this is NOT a carving set, don't buy this expecting to carve things.

It IS a pretty solid deal on a very starter chisel set if you're getting into woodworking, with a probably crappy stone and a totally usable Eclipse-style honing guide.

Great place to cut your teeth on sharpening, and hone your skills on basic chisel usage.

Agreed, but then again I've seen guys carve intricate sculptures with a chainsaw, so someone out there is better with these than I would be with a professional carving set.

About to blow molded cases you're absolutely right if you don't use this stuff a lot it fits great inside your toolbox I have one tool box strictly for my wood tools. And one of those drawers is just stockpiled for a loose crap you might even get injured looking through it so I like to blow molded plastic cases too

To anyone that has these - how do you feel about them not having a strike cap? Is it a hard plastic or a more elastic material? I like to have a feeling of control when striking my chisels when cutting mortises and similar.
