Ploutone.com [ploutone.com] is at it again. Discounting top shelf upto 50%off. CO does seem to be a taxable state .This is my second buy and no Tax in TX.

Well Dang it .. why am I addicted to scoring deals. I'll create a Wiki on Cort Guitars but in a nutshell they build the higher end stuff for Fender, Charvel, Jackson, Ibanez .. etc. They are the Foxconn of iPhones. This is their top tier stuff. There are cheaper models as well but looks like Brett (info AT ploutone) has been a regular for some of us Guitar Addicts.

Just got the duality from Brett. Addicts please feel free to chime in on this store and deal.

Heck I should become a dealer and buy all my own stock. Imagine the margin the big brands have on they same guitars but branded.

The KX500EBK is a guitar for modern players who seek top-tier aesthetics, materials, and hardware in a guitar that can cover multiple genres, from djent metal to modern to prog rock. The sandblasted Ash Burl top looks stunning and is also quite a rare spec, especially among guitars within this price range. A beautiful 5-piece Maple and Purpleheart neck offers timeless aesthetics and excellent stability.

Jewel in their crown. Many of us addicts have this one and its a nutty instrument as it belongs on Stage but is owned mostly by the bedroom pentatonic scalers.
For guitarists who want the biggest bang for their buck, and a pro-level instrument that won't break the bank, the Duality X700 is one of the best options on the market. Just FYI there appears NOT to be sales tax in OR. I'm in Oregon and proceeded to checkout and no tax appeared. Also OR has no sales tax statewide in general.

I have the g290 fat ii and have tried the G300. The 290 fatty is my favorite. Heck even the g280 sounds very much like the G300 pro.

There is definitely fit/finish diff that I can tell between the 280 and 290. I just couldn't get the 290 and 300 to sound or feel different. Not for the lack of trying.

BTW if anyone is in the market for the Jackson Pro ASH or Charvel ole Yella get the kx300. I have tons of fluences and they aren't a generation ahead of the EMGs in the KX.

I think they are reserving that model just so some artist can attach themselves to it. All this is conjecture, be warned Smilie

I wish they made a model with an Evertune bridge AND a 24.75" scale neck.

Walmart also offers some of these guitars at the same price.

Cort Guitars KX Series 6 String Fishman Fluence Ash Burl Electric Guitar, Etched Black https://www.walmart.com/ip/707847239

There are a few others that are the same price. May be easier to return if you don't like it as I assume you can just take it back to the store for a refund instead of printing labels and finding a return center.

Yeah, but it means you can pay with Walmart gift cards if you have them. I did that recently with a Christmas gift, picking up some tuners. It's like Amazon with their third party sellers.

"in a nutshell they build the higher end stuff for Fender, Charvel, Jackson, Ibanez .. etc."

Care to explain?
How is a USA Fender or Jackson Custom Shop coming from a company in Korea?
How is a Ibanez Prestige made by Cort?

Genuinely interested and would like some actual evidence of this. Thanks.

Many high end Jackson, Ibanez, Fender, don't even come out of Korea, so how are they building it there?

There are plenty of videos on this topic, if you're curious. Don't take my or anyone else's word on it.

Hot air:

"USA" fenders are mostly assembled in the states. That's it. Multiple people in or associated with the industry have relayed on YouTube that it's not a one-stop shop. Is that accurate? I don't know. Does it matter if the build and quality control is done there? That's up to you.

Ibanez guitars are made in any number of countries. To my knowledge, none are made in the US. I think Prestiges are made in Japan via the great FujiGen. They do make other models in South Korea, China, Indonesia, and perhaps other countries. Usually, for any guitar, the first digit of the serial number is a letter. This letter often indicates the factory. For example, with Ibanez, C = Cort, S = Samrick and F = FujiGen.

It's my understanding that the Jackson and Charvel custom shops share the same space in California. However, "higher end stuff" definitely isn't solely the realm of custom shops and some shops import components in various states of completion.

Factories. For example, IYV (Vietnam) is a factory that makes Harley Bentons and other brands, but decided to release their own line. Chinese and Indonesian factories make many high level expensive guitars and components. Companies use them and then do their own quality control and sometimes provide the components (which are often from somewhere else). Outsourcing.

There are places that do it all. The only one that comes to mind without looking it up is Kiesel Guitars (and you pay for it). Phillip McKnight recently posted a nice factory tour.

Hope you found some of this interesting.

Cort review....I purchased a Cort KX700 evertune through another vender from a Slickdeal post several months back. Based on just this one guitar, Cort still has a long way to go in quality control. Horrible setup, VERY sharp frets, the finish on mine is a black top maple sides but black is on the sides in multiple places due to poor taping and the back and sides have a rough feel as is they were not sanded properly. However, I got an evertune bridge, SS frets, premium pickups and locking tuners and a quality bag for $635. Despite my complaints I am extremely happy with this guitar and still recommend trying Cort.. The sharp frets can be fixed and I'm not concerned with finish flaws. Just wanting you to know what you "may" receive... A good spec\playing guitar with poor craftsmenship for a good price.😉

What do you mean by homework this time? Lol! This is killer and tempting but also the last one was too right?

Note as well that I'm getting charged tax in Colorado.
