I think this is a great deal on a great mower. I bought this last year when it was $699, and I didn't get the extra battery. I opened a Lowe's account to get an extra $100 off when I bought mine, which they're doing right now through 3/6 (20% off, up to $100).
Really the battery costs these days. If you take the battery out of the equation, the 10AH battery included is $500 MSRP.
MSRP the mower is $850-500 = $350.
The 5AH free battery you get with this deal is $300 MSRP.
Since the mower + 10AH is $750 (using that $350 for the mower cost).. you're paying $400 for the 10AH battery + 5AH battery which are normally $800 MSRP together.
It's 50% off batteries and they're throwing in a free mower. haha

Great deal! Considering the 5AH is another $200 value if buying separately. Though for a typical suburban yard of 1/2 acre (10K square feet'ish), the included 10AH is plenty.

I don't remember the differences off the top of my head, but those are 2 different models. The cheaper one with 7.5 + 5.0Ah batteries is the LM2135SP and the pricier one with 10.0 + 5.0Ah is the LM2156SP. Both self-propelled with 21 inch decks and both pretty well-reviewed.

You're right, I didn't see the model # change, updated my previous comments!
Looks like the 10AH one is the 'XP' version with more torque & a longer battery warranty.

Holly ... why so much $$ for just a lawn mower. This is a robbery.

EGO-compatible batteries are somewhat cheaper on Amazon. Does anybody have any opinion on whether they are worth it? Or is going with EGO batteries worth the extra money?

Have no experience with these specifically but do with various other OEM vs. aftermarket amazon batteries (black and decker, dewalt). The aftermarket ones will work, but within a few months of usage I've found them to be drastically reduced on battery life compared to an OEM and also had several flat out die within a yr. Of course type, brand, etc. YMMV.
So I pulled the trigger on Amazon. Second battery is invoiced separate with a total of $211.20. Mower is invoiced @ $599.72. Should be able to return battery separately for the full credit of $211.20. Leaving the mower @ $599.72 OTD.....

I'm wondering the same..
Edit: I did Buy now, think later, SD mantra. Invoice doesn't show a separate price for battery. Will have to try and see when picking up.
