Good question. We buy closeouts, often brands that are removed from Amazon. You may remember some large Amazon-only brands from the past like Aukey, Ravpower, Tacklife, and many many others. It's generally good stuff, but they broke rules about generating reviews so Amazon shut them down. Others maybe sent too much inventory to FBA and the Amazon storage fees forced them to sell inventory. Sometimes it's just a great product like Peloton bikes that lost their sales momentum and we buy them. If it's a good product and a good price, we'll probably buy it.

After the FTC scrutiny about anti-competitive monopoly behavior Amazon themselves shut down thousands of Amazon Basics product lines on their site. We bought it and have listed many items on Racktodoor, Woot, eBay, and 50+ other channels.

Here are a few articles about it if you want to read more:

These have almost certainly been sitting on the shelf so long that they are partially expired.

Amazon has not sold 12 packs of these in like two years!

https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasi...B082DP5KR1

Remember when Amazon was closing warehouses in Q3/Q4 of 2022? They were selling these 9Vs and I bought an 8-pack back then for a crazy good deal. I bet some flipper loaded up and just realized their stuff is partially expired now and they want to dump it. That's my guess anyway.

I should note that even if these have been sitting around on a shelf for two years, it's still a good deal. The problem is we don't know how long, and if it's been more like four or five years, then that's totally different.

Just found this on Consumer Reports:

Q. Do you recommend using 9-volt lithium batteries to replace standard batteries in smoke detectors so that the replacement cycle can be extended?—William P. Bivins, Greenville, NC
A. Lithium 9Vs aren't recommended for smoke detectors unless you follow a strict battery replacement schedule. Those batteries maintain a high voltage until the end of their usable life, so they provide a much shorter "low battery" warning to alert you that it's time to swap in a fresh one. Alkaline batteries, by comparison, have a more gradual voltage drop-off, prolonging the "low battery" alert and greatly increasing the odds that you'll be nearby to get the alert.

But we change yearly, so should be OK. Price is close to Alkaline Sales.

I just got mine today and every one of them are like 2 years expired but that was expected anytime you go with the site like this and a discount like this it's either one thing or another usually they're either stolen or they're expired I've tested out several of them and they're coming in around 8.4 volts not really any chance of getting my money back but I'll just throw them out and call it a lesson learned
Wasn't this deal just posted less than 24 hours ago? I am a little surprised that you received them already...

Do you have manufacturing date by any chance? Can you post a close up picture of one of them?
One of the images on the site (4th one down) shows 01/31 as the expiration date

For some devices like CO detectors, I find alkaline batteries only last days to a couple weeks before chirping, so lithium batteries are mandatory and last years.

We coming on the PST time change, that many (including me) use as a reminder to replace smoke alarm batteries.
You don't replace lithium batteries on a schedule as they last many years.

Quote from TalentedHaddock257 :
Once a year? Alkaline last good 3 years for me, give or take!

If I look at Lion voltage drop off, it seems to go below 2.9V at about 96% discharge, I think my alkaline chirp when they are at ~8.7V, so 2.9V is the equivalent single cell voltage . If Lithium lasts ~6 years, that's about 0.3 year or ~4 months worth of chirping left. I think I'd notice that in a hurry!
My smoke detectors might make it 3 years on alkaline, but lithium will go much longer.

I'm not quite following what you're explaining, but I'll point out that lithium batteries have a much flatter voltage curve than alkaline, which is why in some devices an alkaline will stop working even though it's barely used.

Can you tell us what are the expiration dates of these particular 9v batteries are?
Yeah, the warehouse sent a few pics. Most of them were manufactured in January and February 2023 with expirations in 2033. Enjoy!

Really you are just better off buying the smoke detectors with the built in 10 year battery.
Since smoke detectors should be replaced every 10 years, since the unit itself also have a shelf life.

These detectors are new. I have had detectors with built-in lithium batteries before that I didn't like. I like to be able to replace the lithium battery if needed. Besides the quality of lithium batteries that come with detectors is not great.
