I've always heard the opposite, i.e., that Discover is consumer-friendly on chargebacks and disputes, and that's why a lot of merchants won't accept it.
Can't use Discover at Costco
If I buy $100 gift card (to be used within a few months) and get 5% back, my net cost is $95 (plus any interest I lose out on from the day of purchase, but would take a year to lose out on $5)
If I put that $100 in a HYSA, it takes me a year to earn $5
So if you buy gift cards that you will use within a year you will come out ahead

Not only that, but the days of 5+% of CDs are coming to a close allegedly.
Out of all credit cards, discover is the worst in terms of customer service, access to merchants and support. Theres a reason why many small and some big retailers don't accept it. If you ever need to file a chargeback or dispute, don't bother because you will lose. For small purchases its fine, but anything dealing with fraud or damaged items, good luck with that. Discover is in favor of merchants over their own customers because they want those merchants to keep using them.

Heard and experienced it is way different. I have multiple amex, visa, mastercard and 1 discover card, and not once have I won a single dispute within a 10 year span. I've filed 3-4 disputes and not once have discover sided with me. Amex and chase being my best cards. +800 credit
We bought a few items from a well known merchant, one of the items arrived heavily damaged, the merchant refused to refund or replace. Long story short, we contacted discover for help to return or get a replacement, after a month, they denied my dispute told me tough luck and to contact BBB if I want help. So I did, and within a week, the merchant took the item back, and offered to give me full credit for the item.
I called discover the next day, told them that after 10+ years of being a client, I will be closing my personal and business account with them and that we will not be accepting discover cards as payment for our business in the future. They offered to give me the dispute amount as a "courtesy" which was a mere $80, and I just laughed. Later got an email and a call from them offering additional cashback bonus which I didn't even bother to respond.

That doesn't make sense as to why retailers wouldn't accept discover if discover is in favor of merchants and unlikely to honor a chargeback.

I've used discover for over 24 years. Every dispute, albeit I've only had two, were resolved in my favor and one of them was several thousand dollars. I keep meticulous records and provided them to discover for the merchant in question. Discover immediately reversed the charge while they investigated, and it was resolved in two weeks. I believe you may have had a bad experience, but as is my experience, they are both anecdotal. From what I have read and personally experience, discover has one of the best customer services. They are smaller than VISA and MasterCard, and have great rewards which is why they aren't accepted at as many places as the others. The reason small business choose VISA and MasterCard over discover is because they have to pay fees to use the CC companies services. Deciding not to take discover is purely a "fiscal" decision. I have heard, but don't really know, that discover fees are a bit more than other CC's. Which might be how they pay their rewards program. I don't know or really care about your exact situation, just like you don't care about mine. I'm the end, it's the aggregate data that matters, and discover ranks 2nd. https://www.jdpower.com/business/...tion-study

Discover has higher fees being the main reason for most businesses. Why pay more when visa or mastercard works just as well. Charge backs don't usually happen often either.

How does one find clearance deals at HD or Lowe's, I checked HD website and there's no clearance section?

sorry higher for longer until stonk market crashes since it hasn't higher for longer for the next few years.
lower rates will only happen when stonk market bubble drops 50%
