I tried that on my 08 Acura TSX And it wouldn't budge.

Luckily I went Autozone and rent the real deal OEM Tools Tie Rod Removal tool which works with minimal effort. It's truly a time and back saver. I'll never try to mess with tie rods without that tool again. and hell I would have no problem paying $100 for this tool if I couldn't rent it.

Rent it for free or wait for the harbor freight sale. I got the Pittsburg tool for 16.99 on clearance. This tool is also not easy to use for me. Other might have better luck

This tool looks like it is for removing rack and pinion style tie rods. However Wranglers most certainly do still have tie rods. They just use a Haltenberger style steering system so the tie rods on your Tj are of a completely different type than what this tool is designed for.

You can also use the borrow feature of Autozone and Advance Auto Parts for this kind of a thing as you need it only once a blue moon. That's what I did ... and returned it. They put back the entire money including taxes back on the card. They have better tools... for tie rods that extend like a long tube and you can comfortably put a breaker bar on it.

I got the hF version on sale a while back. https://www.harborfreight.com/aut...58391.html Game changer for sure. Worth every penny.

Or just rent it for free at your local parts store.

Right. In both cases the tie rod is what ties the steering system into the steering knuckle. It is the adjustable part, and doesn't always have any sort of key cut into it to let you turn it. Every car has tie rods. Every single one. There is some ambiguity around names of things in cars but this isn't really one of those.
