Update:
  1. My online order was stuck in preparation.
  2. It was the second day today no update till afternoon.
  3. So Chatted with the ATT canceled lines and took a chance if BestBuy shipped it or not as I do not want to pay $95 X 2 for these phones.
  4. The account is 100% canceled at ATT I checked both ways and my lines from Google Voice are still intact (did not unlock the first time).
  5. Just got the notification that Phones are shipped from Bestbuy warehouse just 20 miles from my home and will be here tomorrow.
Thanks, OP for the free phones for kids and they will be happy.

Sometime after confirming your email you should receive an email asking you to finish up account registration. Once account registration is complete you'll receive an email informing you to a set a passcode for your account. You'll then be able to access the AT&T account where you'll see your ported phone number, account number, etc. Once you've received your device, use the online chat and type "Cancel service". It'll ask you a few questions, then an agent will come into the chat and help you cancel your service. Takes only a few minutes.

If you haven't received those additional emails you'll know the line isn't activated yet.

I tried to cancel on Sat a few hours after purchasing two via chat. Chat was closed. Called on Sun and the account page shows $0.00.

$45 restock fee per at BBY if returned is the only scary part but I don't believe any reason to return as long as the T account is in order.

Ok, I spent all morning trying to solve this through chat talking with BB and ATT. I received an email from BB at noon saying there is an issue with my order and to contact geek squad mobil activation to fix things within 48hrs. Did a chat with them to find I didn't have a payment on file, lol wut. So chat again to find my mobile ID activation was not complete. So I call BB mobile and they want my ATT passcode, but I was where you are now, all I had done so far is confirm my email.

Called att on their main customer line. Told them I cannot access my new account, and I'm waiting for a passcode. They wanted to send a confirmation number to my phone number which I'm porting. They sent the confirmation number to verify my account, which the number was a google voice number. From there they wanted the last 4 digits of the social. Finally the rep let me setup my passcode. I had to explain I do not have the phone and it will not ship from Best Buy without the number. Called Best Buy, with the ATT CS rep on the line to help (not needed but was helpful) and BB took the passcode number and shared the passcode info with the BB porting department. 15 minutes later, BB Called me back to let me know that it was completed. I then received the email to setup my account for ATT , and I could no longer cancel the phone in BB orders. Seems like things are back on track.

Anyone got cancellations from BB ?? I just got an email from BB saying cancellation but no apparent reason ....it was supposed to be delivered by tomorrow

mine just shipped. ordered Saturday was stuck in the made label stage till 5pm today. now it is in transit.
i just canceled my line and the bill showed up as $0.00 when i canceled online in the chat took like 20 mins.
hopefully there are no surprise charges.

The only reason you have to return a phone normally is if you purchased from a carrier and it's in the contract to do so. BestBuy sold the phone for $0 when signing up for ATT, a third party, with no obvious caveat or policy on the sales page. I doubt BB can do anything at all to us.
