These are $19.97 in store on clearance YMMV
I've seen them at multiple locations. sometimes on sidewall sometimes in the middle aisles next to clothing area

Confirming below: each tin comes with 1x Scarlett & Violet and 1x Sword & Shield: Silver Tempest

I believe these to be SV base & ST.

If you can find them in-store @$20, great.

Otherwise you'd be better off grabbing the sleeved packs at Best Buy.

$3/pack isn't bad. They've been lower and if you get a booster box the per pack is always lower but for 5 tins it comes with this is a good deal. I've had decent luck with pulling good hits from tins in general but YMMV. Others saying $20 in store if they have in stock. My local doesn't so grabbing it online.

Don't know what packs are in them but if you just want kids to rip something, fine, but SVI is generally very undesirable for the most part out of the SV sets. Collecting and playing.

Agreed. Plus the tins can damage the cards

Are these OK for starters to actually play? (Not looking to grade/flip/sell cards..)

Kids are 9 and 8 that would be playing

This won't contain the game's rules or the necessary cards for a player to create a usable deck, let alone two players. If they don't already have decks, I recommend buying two "ex Battle Decks" (MSRP 9.99 each) or possibly 2 "Deluxe Battle Decks" (MSRP 19.99 each).

If they do already have decks and you don't need fancy packaging for gift-giving, they're likely to get more enjoyment from a bulk lot of used cards on Ebay. You can get ten times as many cards for less than what the collection from Costco costs.

They are okay at $20 and I bought 10 where my local Costco has 2 pallets at that time. No great hits from those 10 boxes and I feel wasteful having 50 tins and don't know what to do with them. I will probably donate them to Goodwill instead of chucking them to trash. I agree with others saying if price at $3 a pack BB packs are a better deal.

Better off donating to an actually charity instead of greedy "goodwill"
