Did some research on these before deciding not to buy. The battery lasts a week in a busy area with lots of alerts. No continuous recording or rtsp. Must connect to the base station instead of your Wi-Fi.

These are a good option if you need 2 battery powered cameras, near each other and the hub, and that won't trigger a ton.

Thank you for sharing your findings. Is it correct that the camera has 2 power options:
1) battery alone.
2) battery w/solar panel.

Would the camera also operate on battery while plugged into a live USB power source at the same time? In other words, a live USB wire entering through the battery's port at the rear of the camera (plugged into the wall or an external battery pack)? I've read & watched several reviews and no one seems to address this.

it should if it supports solar panel because solar panel delivers different charge based on weather condition but constantly. The bigger issue would be waterproofing of the connector since if water gets in it will corrode for sure very quickly.

Actually, the battery life is several months under intended usage. No battery powered camera is intended for continual surveillance or high traffic areas that are constantly triggered. However, you can connect these to wired or solar power if you want. These are wifi that connect to their own tiny hub that is connected directly to your router, and includes local storage via MicroSD card. No subscription is required, but it is available for a reasonable cost compared to other brand subscriptions. The hub also incorporates an alarm if you want to use it.

I'd recommend these for indoor or covered usage outdoors for anyone who doesn't want wired installation. But I'd hesitate on using in extreme temperatures. For apartments and condos they are ideal.

Has one of the easiest apps and quickest setups I've found. Also integrates with TP-Link Kasa cameras, smart plugs and smart devices. I think each hub has a limit of five wireless Tapo cameras. TP-Link is going to release more wireless Tapo devices, but they seem to be coming out overseas before the US.

These are pretty bad don't pickup motion a lot of time until you're right below it and waving your hand at it. I got these then returned for CW320 and they were 10x better the only good thing about these were they were really good in low light.

Saw some review and they said C420S2 has some power saving setting which make the motion sensor less sensitive in order to reduce power usage. So did you change the setting to turn off power saving in order to make the motion detection works better?

I remember not messing up any settings in the first week just left it how it was and it barely sended me any notifications. Unless the power savings settings were on by default I didn't turned them on or off.

From searching for the online manual for C420S2, it has 3 Power Saving Mode settings ("Always On", "Auto", and "Always Off"). Most likely the default is "Auto". But in the youtube video, that person said he set it to "Always Off" for maximum amount of detection and it works well for him.

There is setting for "Motion sensitivity" which the default probably 6. Increased sensitivity results in fewer missed recordings and notifications (use more power) and lower sensitivity result in fewer unwanted recordings and notifications.
There is also "Wake-up Sensitivity" which will affect how far (distance) it will detect motion which will affect battery life. The default probably right around the middle which is 6 and max is 10.

The first thing someone should do is set those to what you can tolerate. And if you don't, of course you are not getting the result you want.

Same. I would of like to try these for that price. Otherwise I'll stick with Ring cameras instead.

So you know any battery operated security camera at this price range has RTSP?

Detection is on by default, but you then choose what type of event you want detected: motion, person, pet, vehicle or package. Then under notifications, you can select rich notifications for the cloud subscription and what type of event triggers notification: motion, person, pet, vehicle or package.
