The link to previous Frontpage deal is wrong.

Link to the right previous front page deal which was just few days ago for $22.49 directly from tp-link store. If you are willing to buy from 3rd party seller on Amazon, someone else posted a coupon link in that thread which can get it for $20 from Amazon 3rd party seller.

Good price but their Tapo Care cloud storage service is kind of pricey.

I bought this for 20 about a month ago and can say it's decent for a cheap indoor camera with no need for a subscription service. Notifications are the same, if not better, than the more expensive companies. With the SD card installed it's a 24/7 recording too so you don't have to worry about missing something.
A couple downsides is not being able to delete recordings and the video quality isn't the best. Both my eufy and arlo have better quality but it's only really noticeable when zooming in.

I'm new to security cameras. Do you have to use the SD card to record video to? I was looking for a solution that can save video directly to my home server storage devices, transmitting the data via Ethernet on the fly.

This camera doesn't have an ethernet port, Wifi only. Supports rtsp so you can save to a server but it has to be enabled/setup in the Tapo app.

As manormortal said, this one doesn't have an ethernet, the rtsp may work though. But honestly if you want to run ethernet then a poe setup with a nvr would be better. Reolink has them frequently on sale and I know there are many people that like it for the price. There are also many others too.
