Aaaahhhh just found reason:

New process of producing OLEDs without rare earth minerals.

"The new process, in simplest terms, involves replacing those rare minerals with not-so-rare -- and therefore more affordable --- minerals. Diving into the science, the process involves grinding manganese bromide with benzyltriphenylphosphonium bromide. That solution is then dissolved into single MnBz crystals, which are used to create a light-emitting device (the LED part of OLED)."

So likely we see prices continue downward!

I missed the first deal at $1950 because I was going to go to Best Buy to get them to price match. When it was back on sale for $1925, I jumped on it. I ordered on Thursday of last week and it arrived the next day on Friday. They delivered it and unboxed it inside my house for free. They let me test it and actually suggested that I look for cracks in the screen which I totally forgot about because I was so focused on making sure the picture was OK. I 'm so glad I ordered it from Amazon instead of picking it up from Best Buy because that box was massive. I have 2 SUVs and I don't think I could've fit the box in either one.

I dumped the Kuro in 2016 when LG released the first OLED.
